TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER
FROM: JEFFREY LAWRENCE CORNEJO, JR., CITY CLERK
ADRIAN GARCIA, MMC, CHIEF DEPUTY CITY CLERK
DATE: MARCH 18, 2019
SUBJECT: EXTEND ASSIGNMENT OF OUTSIDE AGENCIES BOARD, COMMITTEES AND APPROVE
THE EXISTING SUB-COMMITTEE & AD-HOC COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS
BACKGROUND:
City Council Members represent the City on various intergovernmental agencies, boards and
committees that consider policy and legislation that directly impacts the City. These assignments
are reviewed on a biennial basis following a General Municipal Election. This action requests
that the City Council extend the existing assignments to outside agencies, boards and committees
for the period of April 2019 to March 2020 due to the Cities General Municipal Election being
extend to March 2020 and approve the existing Sub-Committee and Ad-Hoc Committee
appointments and make any changes the Council deems necessary.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the following:
1)Extend the existing assignments of outside Board and Committees for an additional
one year period from April 2019 to March 2020; and
2)Affirm or modify the existing Sub-Committee and Ad-Hoc Committee appointments
ANALYSIS:
Every two years, the City Council assigns the Mayor or the Members of the Council to represent
Azusa at the various outside Agency Boards and Committees. Some appointments are made by
Resolution and others by the majority vote of the Mayor and City Council. From time to time,
there are changes to the representations, as some agencies require regional representation for
which appointments are made by several cities. This year there have been no changes in the
number of agencies and/or representation for which the Council serves as the Board.
