G � u ZUS CONSENT ITEM D-5 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: SAM GONZALEZ, CHIEF OF POLICE VIA: JAMES MAKSHANOFF, CITY MANAGER DATE: OCTOBER 21, 2013 SUBJECT: INTEROPERABLE RADIO CONSOLE BASE STATIONS RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council approve the purchase of radio equipment to upgrade the Azusa Police Department dispatch center consoles to allow compatibility with new UHF radio technology. BACKGROUND Homeland Security grants have been utilized during the past several years to purchase interoperable UHF portable and mobile radios to allow the Police Department to migrate towards this specialized equipment to enhance event and incident management and strengthen the ability of Law Enforcement Agencies to communicate with each other. The Police Department now needs to upgrade its dispatch center consoles with this new radio technology. The following compatible radio equipment is needed to help further the project: 2 Motorola MCC7500 Dispatch Console Radios and Support Equipment TOTAL: $ 240,210.00 The Motorola equipment will be purchased from Motorola Solutions, c/o Public Safety Technologies (dba Communications Center) located at 719 Arrow Grand Circle, Covina, CA 91722. The purchase of these radios is based on the existing Glendale Master Purchase and Service Agreement dated October 31, 2011 as authorized under AMC Section 2-523(e), contract#MA-IS-43070-10. FISCAL IMPACT $125,000 of this purchase is a reimbursement grant purchase from the 2013 State of California Homeland Security Grant Program, and $30,000 from the Regional Radio 2011 Homeland Security Grant funds. The County of Los Angeles and the State of California, upon receipt of goods by the City of Azusa Police Department, will process reimbursement. Reimbursement is expected to take 90-120 days. The additional purchase cost of this radio equipment in the amount of$85,210 will be funded from the Asset Seizure Fund,Account No. 28-20-310-041-7140. PREPARED BY John Momot, Captain
