The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned session at the above time and place. ROLL CALL: Councilmen: Fawcett, Romero, Menimesheimer, City Attorney, City Engineer, City Clerk Absent: Councilmen: Ortuno, Johnson The City Clerk announced the monthly meeting of the League of California C_ -ties to be held at Santa Anita Park, Thursday, February- 16th. Mayor Memmesheimer read a letter of Commendation to the Fire Department for their kindness to her and her son submitted by Mrs. Robert Wormer, 18449 East Nearfield Street. Moved by Councilman Fawcett, seconded by Councilman Romero and unanimously carried that the Mayor be authorized to file with the Fire Department.. ABSENT: Councilmen: Ortuno, Johnson Councilman Ortuno entered the meeting and was seated at the table. Time 7:12 P.M. The Chief of Police submitted a letter of his investigation of the request of Mr. J. T. Brown for permission to have pony rides at the site located on Foothill Blvd, at Sun- set Avenue. The Police Chief stated that there was no objection on his part. Moved by Councilman Romero, seconded by Councilman Ortuno and unanimously carried that the City Council grant a license to J. T. Brown to have pony rides at the location designated, with the stipulation that he comply with the conditions set forth by the letter of the Chief of Police, and that his Public Liability Insurance be at least in the amounts of $25,000/$50,000. ABSENT: Councilman Johnson Discussion relative to the purchase on the open market of air conditioning for the City Hall was held. Councilman Ortuno offered the following Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY ENGINEER TO PURCHASE ALL SUPPLIES, MATERIALS, AND CONTRACT FOR LABOR TO COMPLETE AiR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IN CITY BUILDINGS IDI ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLANS AND SPECI- FICATIONS THEREFORE, NOW ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS AS SET FORTH IN THIS RESOLUTION." Councilman Ortuno moved its adoption, seconded by Council- man Romero. This Resolution then passed and adopted by the followinS vote: AYES: Councilmen: Fawcett, Ortuno, Romero, Memmesheimer NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilman Johnson and numbered Resolution No. 3374 The City Engineer recommended that the City accept the price of the Ralph E. Manns Company for the purchase of the air conditioning equipment, and approval of the Faith- ful Performance Bond submitted by the Company.. Moved by Councilman Romero, seconded by Councilman Ortuno and unanimously carried that the City Council accept the recommendation of the Engineer and approve the Bond sub- mitted by the Company ABSENT: Councilman Johnson Roll Call League of Calif, Cities meeting Letter of commer dation to Fire Dept. Business license granted for pony rides at Foothill & Sunset Resolution No. 33V'I - Purchase of Air Conditioning System on open Market. CLERK, Bond and price of Ralph E. Man: approved. T, CITY HALL AZUSA, CALIF. MED. FEBRUARY 15, 1956 7 P.M. Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman Fawcett Mayor to sign and unanimously carried that the Mayor be authorized to Agreement with sign the Contract Agreement :with the Ralph E. Manns Company. Manns Co. ABSENT: Councilman Johnson The City Engineer stated that the American Right -of -Way Appraisal Contractors had agreed to do the appraising of that property which is contemplated to be acquired for the expanded Civic Center, for the amount of $2500.00, exclusive of Court appearances. The City Engineer and City Attorney, Possible having studied this situation, recommend the acceptance property for of this proposal, expanded Civic It was moved b; Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman Center to be Romero that the City Council acegpt the recommendation of appraised. the City Engineer and City Attorney and that the City employ the American Right -of -Way Appraisal Contractors to make the appraisal of the=property as requested by the City, the terms to be set forth in writing. The City Attorney and City Engineer to formulate the Agreement for Council approval. Motion carried unanimously ABSENT: Councilman Johnson The City Engineer submitted the proposal of Lester B. Lee, C.P.A., for establishing a Unit Job Cost Accounting System in the Public Works Department, at a per diem Unit Job Cost rate of $65.00. The estimated number of days required Accounting to be 15, to be covered within a 90 day period. The City System - Public Engineer recommended that this proposal be accepted. Works Dept. Moved by Councilman Romero, seconded by Councilman Fawcett approved and unanimously carried that the City Council accept the recommendation of the City Engineer and the proposal submitted by L. B. Lee, C.P. A. be accepted. ABSENT: Councilman Johnson On motion by Councilman Romero, seconded by Councilman Ortuno, the meeting adjourned. Time of adjournment Adjournment 7:23 P.M. City Clerk of Azusa
