The City Council of the City of Azusa met in Special session
at the above time and place.
Present at Roll Call:
Councilmen: Fawcett, Ortuno Memmesheimer
Absent; Councilmen: Johnson, Romero
Also present: City Attorney Williams, City Engineer,
City Clerk
The City Clerk read the following Notice of Special Meeting:
"TO: MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF AZUSA
By order of the Mayor, there trill be a SPECIAL
MEETING OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA, to be held in the Council Chambers at
7:30 o'clock A.M., Monday, July 30, 1956.
The business of the meeting will be for the purpose
of repealing Resolution No. 3465 and Resolution
No. 3FR and adopting a new Resolution initiating
Northerly Annexation District No. 15."

The City Clerk announced that at 8:08 A.M., July 28, 1956,
Councilman Johnson was contacted by Police Officer Charles Neer
and informed of the time and place of the :Special Meeting, but
that written notice was refused, and that the City Clerk had
mailed by Special Delivery a copy of the above Notice to
Councilman:Tohnson, this mailing made at the Azusa Post Office
at 9:40 A.M. July 28, 1950'.
City Attorney Williams stated that a defective publication
relative to Annexation No. 15 had appeared in the Azusa Herald, Northerly
also the correct publication had appeared in theLos Angeles Annex..
Daily Journal. It was suggested by the City Attorney that the District
City Council do not repeal Resolution No. 3465 and Resolution No. 15
No. 3474, but that neer proceedings be initiated.
It was the opinion of the City Council that new proceedings
should be initiated with the date for the protest hearing
set for September 17, 1956, at 8 o'clock P.M. be set in
case the previous action of the Council should be contested
due to a defective publication.
Councilman Fawcett offered the following Resolution entitled:

"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, No. 3479 -
COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THAT Initiating Pro -
PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN INITIATED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY ceedings North -
OF AZUSA TO ANNEX TO SAID CITY CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY erly Annex.
DESCRIBED HEREIN AND DESIGNATED AS "NORTFLRLY ANNEXATION Dist. No. 15
DISTRICT NO. 15" AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION."
Moved by Councilman Fawcett, seconded by Councilman Ortuno
that further reading of the Resolution be waived:
Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Fawcett, Ortuno, Memmesheimer
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT: Councilmen: Johnson, Romero
and numbered Resolution No. 3479

CITY HALL AZUSA, CAL, MONDAY, JULY 30, 1956 7:30 P.M.
Councilman Ortuno moved adoption of the Resolution,
seconded by Councilman Fawcett. This Resolution was
then passed and adopted by the following vote of Council:
AYES: Councilmen: Fawcett, Ortuno, Memmesheimer
NOES: Councilmen: Mone
ABSENT: Councilmen: Johnson, Romero
and numbered Resolution No. 3479.
Moved by Councilman Fawcett, seconded by Councilman Adjournment
Ortuno and carried that this meeting adjourn. Time of
adjournment 7:53 A.M.
