SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF “VALUE OF LIBRARIES” GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC
LIBRARY SERVICES BOARD
BACKGROUND:
The Azusa City Library has been awarded a grant in the amount of $3,000 from the California Public Library
Services Board to support vulnerable populations. This action accepts the grant award and approves a
corresponding budget amendment to incorporate the grant funds into the current fiscal year budget.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions:
1)Accept the grant award from the California Public Library Services Board; and
2)Approve necessary budget amendments and adjust the current fiscal year budget accordingly.
ANALYSIS:
The Library is the recipient of the “Value of Libraries” grant. This grant provides funds to support vulnerable
populations. The funding will be used to support and expand the I CAN program for developmentally disabled
adults.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended actions; this grant will support funding for Library
programs. Upon Council acceptance of the grant, Finance staff will amend the FY2018-19 budget consistent with
the grant award amount.
