LIGHT & WATE R CITY OF AZUSA MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE AZUSA UTILITY BOARD/CITY COUNCIL MONDAY,DECEMBER 17,2012—8:43 P.M. The Utility Board/City Council of the City of Azusa met in special session,at the above date and time,at the Azusa Auditorium located at 213 E. Foothill Boulevard, Azusa, CA 91702. Chairmember Carrillo called the meeting to order. Call to Order ROLL CALL Roll Call PRESENT: BOARD MEMBERS: GONZALES, CARRILLO,MACIAS, HANKS,ROCHA ABSENT: BOARD MEMBERS: NONE ALSO PRESENT Also Present City Attorney Hull,City Manager Makshanoff,Public Works Director/Assistant City Manager Haes, Police Chief Gonzalez, Finance Director Paragas, Human Resources Director Neiuber, Library Director Johnson, Economic and Community Development Director Christiansen,Utilities Director Morrow,Information Officer Quiroz, Assistant Director Economic and Community Development McNamara,Community Improvement Supervisor McMinn,Community Improvement Inspector Hale,Assistant Director-Electric Operations Langit, City Clerk Mendoza, Assistant City Clerk Hernandez. UTILITIES DIRECTOR'S COMMENTS Director's Comments Utilities Director Morrow addressed the meeting and on behalf of his staff and himself,wished Council and Customers Happy Holidays. Brd Mmbrs UTILITY BOARD MEMBERS COMMENTS Comments Boardmember Macias addressed the meeting expressing his content for all the Christmas lights throughout the U. Macias city in various homes. Comments Boardmember Hanks thanked the community for decorating their homes making them festive,and expressed K. Hanks his best wishes for a wonderful Christmas. Comments Boardmember Rocha thanked everyone for decorating their homes, and thanked the Milton Family for J. Rocha sponsoring a second annual holiday toy drive, Friday Dec. 21, 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Comments Boardmember Gonzales addressed the meeting wishing all Happy Holidays and Happy New Year. R. Gonzales Boardmenber Carrillo addressed the meeting reminding all that Light&Water has a 25%rebate program for A. Carrillo certain appliances when purchasing in Azusa stores,and encouraged all to check the L&W website to buy the Comments right kind of items,i.e. LED televisions,computer monitors and lights,and all appliances that have the energy efficient stickers i.e. refrigerators, washers and driers, central air conditioners and landscaping irrigation systems; and wished all Happy Holidays. None SPECIAL CALL ITEMS Spec Call None SCHEDULED ITEMS Sched Items Approval of Additional Funds to Pay for Increased Cost of Electric Utility Betterment Project along the Metro Electric Utility Rail Gold Line Extension in the City of Azusa. Bettermne Proj Motro Goldline Utilities Director Morrow addressed the item stating that earlier in the year the Metro Goldline proposed to the utilities to improve to more efficient energy along the construction line;three locations are in need of future G. Morrow overhead lines where installation of new conduits is needed;this will improve safety and reliability,and it is Comments beneficial to install them in conjunction with the Gold Line construction;the original cost assessment from the Gold Line was approved by the Board in May,in the amount of$106,000.00;the original estimate increased $35k to$75k per crossing;after several negotiations,we were not able to bring the cost down to the original estimate price;to decline this offer will create future problems for installation once Gold Line is finished;the additional amount is in our budget and it can be used. Boardmember Hanks responded that this project is too far ahead and this proposal should be accepted to avoid K. Hanks future problems. Comments Moved by Boardmember Hanks, seconded by Boardmember Macias, and unanimously carried to Approve Approve additional funds in the amount of$112,152 to pay for the increased estimated cost of electric utility betterment Increased project along the Metro Rail Gold Line Extension Project in the City of Azusa.
