HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 1004 r ORDINANCE NO. 1004 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING SECTION 3200.48 OF, AND ADDING SECTION 3200.48a TO, THE AZUSA MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO THE BLOCKING OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC BY RAILWAY TRAINS. The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 3200.48 of the Azusa Municipal Code is amended to read: "SECTION 3200.48. RAILWAY TRAINS NOT TO BLOCK STREET. It shall be unlawful for any person to cause or permit any railway train or railway cars or similar vehicles on rails to operate or to be operated in such a manner as to prevent the use of any street for the purposes of travel for a period of time longer than five (5) minutes except that this provision shall not apply to railway trains, cars, or similar vehicles on rails while blocking or obstructing a crossing because of an accident which requires the operator of the train, car, or similar vehicle on rails to stop at or near the scene of the accident." SECTION 2. Section 3200.48a is hereby added to said code to read: "SECTION 3200.48a. RAILWAY CROSSING SIGNALS NOT TO DISRUPT VEHICULAR TRAFFIC FLOW. It shall be unlawful for any person to cause or permit any signal or other traffic control device located at the intersection of a street and a rail line to stop the flow of vehicular traffic upon the street unless there is a railway train approaching the intersection and it is unsafe for vehicular traffic to proceed across the rail line. " SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and shall cause a copy of same to be published in accordance with law. Mayor STATE OF CALIFORNIA COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES SS. KLARR, City Clerk of the City of Azusa do hereby certify that the above Ordinance No.1004 was duly and regularly introduced and placed upon its first reading at a regular meeting of the City Council on the 2nd day of November , 1970, and that, thereafter said ordinance was duly adopted and passed at a regular meeting of the City Council on the 16th day of November , 1970, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen: Rubio, Decker, Snyder, Clark, Solem NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT:Councilmen: None Ci y lerk I DO FURTHER CERTIFY that I caused said ordinance to be published prior to the expiration of fifteen days from the passage thereof in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of Azusa, on the 25th day of November , 1970, and that the same was published in accordance with law.
