HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 991 ORDINANCE NO. 991 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA RELATING TO POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION. The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Sections 2325 and 2326 of the Azusa Municipal Code is hereby amended to read in full as follows: "SECTION 2325. POWERS AND DUTIES. The powers and duties of the Park and Recreation Commission shall be: (a) To act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to the ac- quisition, improvement, maintenance, and use of all public parks and parkways in the City; to act in an advisory capacity in coordinating and re- viewing the plans and conduct of the Superintendent of Public Works in the improvements and maintenance of all parks and parkways. (b) To act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to public recreation in the City; to advise the Recreation Director in the formulating and conducting of all recreational activities. (c) To act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to the planting, pruning, care, and removal of all trees in street and parkways in the City; to act in an advisory capacity in coordinating and reviewing plans and conduct of the Superintendent of Public Works in the maintenance of all street trees. (d) To advise the City Council concerning relations with other governmental agencies and civic groups in the advancement of good park and recreation planning and programing. (e) To advise the City Council with respect to the preceding powers and duties of the Commission. (f) To review the annual budget covering all park, recreation, and street tree activities, and act in an advisory capacity concerning same to the City Council. (g) To perform such other advisory functions as may be referred to or requested of them by the City Council. SECTION 2326. RULES FOR USE OF PUBLIC PARKS AND GROUNDS. The Park and Recreation Commission shall advise the City Council with respect to adoption of rules and regulations pertaining to the conduct and use of parks and public grounds as are necessary to administer the same and to protect the public property and the safety, health, morals, and welfare of the public, consistent with all State laws and this Code. No person shall fail to comply with any such rule or regulation after the same has been posted in the affected area. -1- SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by law.
