AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING
THERETO NEW SECTIONS 9219, 9219.10, 9219.20,
9219.30, 9219.40, AND 9219.50 RELATING TO A
RESIDENTIAL AGRICULTURAL ZONE.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as
follows :
SECTION 1. Upon recommendation of the Planning Commission,
the Azusa Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding thereto Sections
9219, 9219.10, 9219.20, 9219.30, 9219.40, and 9219.50 to read respect-
ively as follows :
"SECTION 9219. R-A RESIDENTIAL AGRICULTURAL ZONE.
The R-A Residential Agricultural Zone is intended as
an area particularly suited for light agricultural activities.
Permitted uses are intended to encourage light agricultural
pursuits and such other uses required for, or desired by, the
inhabitants of the City.
An area so zoned may provide the land necessary to
permit future intensive residential development as the
need arises, and for recreational and service facilities
in conjunction therewith.
SECTION 9219.10. USES PERMITTED.
1. One-family dwellings .
2. Parks, playgrounds or community centers, owned
and operated by a governmental agency.
3. Farming and truck gardening including nurseries.
4. The keeping of horses, cows, goats or other domestic
livestock, except swine, and the keeping of poultry,
fowl, rabbits, chinchillas and other small animals,
provided:
a. The keeping of horses, cows, goats or other
domestic livestock shall be permitted only on
lots having an area of 20,000 square feet or
more, with no more than one of each such animal
permitted for each 5,000 square feet of lot area.
5. Accessory buildings, including private garages, acces-
sory living quarters, servants ' quarters, recreation
rooms, greenhouses, lathhouses, or private stables,
provided that
a. An accessory living quarters, servants ' quarters,
recreation room or a private garage or any combi-
nation of said uses may be included in one build-
ing not exceeding two and one-half stories in
height;
b. No stable is located or maintained on a lot having
an area of less than 20,000 square feet and its
capacity does not exceed one horse for each
5,000 square feet of lot area.
6. Name Plates & Signs as provided in Section 9230.70.
SECTION 9219.20. BUILDING HEIGHT LIMITS.
The maximum building height shall be two and one-half
stories and not exceed thirty-five feet except as otherwise
provided in Section 9230.20.
SECTION 9219.30. MINIMUM LOT SIZE.
Every lot shall have a minimum width at the building line
of 80 feet and a minimum area of 20,000 square feet.
SECTION 9219.40. YARDS.
There shall be established and maintained:
a. A front yard having a depth of not less than 25 feet.
b. A side yard of at least 5 feet; provided that there
shall be a side yard of at least 12-1/2 feet in
width on the street side of a corner lot;
c. A rear yard having a depth of not less than 25 feet.
SECTION 9219.50. PARKING.
Parking requirements shall be as set forth in Sections
9230.50 to 9230.52 inclusive."
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this ordinance and cause the same to be published as required by law.

hereby certify that the above Ordinance No. 933 was regularly
introduced and placed upon its first reading at a regular meeting
of the City Council on the 20th day of may , 1968. That,
thereafter, said ordinance was duly adopted and passed at a regular
meeting of the City Council on the 3rd day of June , 1968,
by the following vote, to wit:

I do further certify that I caused said Ordinance to
be published prior to the expiration of fifteen days from the
passage thereof in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, a newspaper
of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the
City of Azusa, on the 13th day of June , 1968, and that
the same was published in accordance with law.
