ORDINANCE NO. 910
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA ADDING A SECTION TO THE AZUSA MUNICIPAL
CODE RELATING TO OUTDOOR ADVERTISING AND BILLBOARDS
The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as
follows :
SECTION 1. Upon recommendation of the Planning Commission
and after due and proper notice and hearings before the Planning Com-
mission and the City Council, the Azusa Municipal Code is hereby
amended by adding thereto a new Section 9230.72 to read as follows :
"SECTION 9230.72. OUTDOOR ADVERTISING OR BILLBOARD SIGNS :
(a) Outdoor advertising signs or billboards shall not
exceed 300 square feet unless a Conditional Use Permit
is obtained. No parcel shall have therein both an
outdoor advertising sign and a parcel identification
sign.
(b) MINIMUM SITE DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS
1. Outdoor advertising signs shall be located so as
not to project into the public right-of-way.
2. Billboards or outdoor advertising signs shall be
set back a minimum of 25 feet from the intersection
of property lines at the corner of a block, measured
along each property line.
3. No billboard or outdoor advertising structure may
be placed or located within three hundred (300)
feet of another billboard or outdoor advertising
structure.
4. No billboard or outdoor advertising sign shall be
painted on any wall, building or fence.
5. No billboards or other outdoor advertising struc-
tures may be placed or located on any vacant lot
or parcel of land lying between two (2) residential
buildings, structures or uses, where said struc-
tures or uses are less than 100 feet apart.
6. All outdoor advertising signs shall be subject to
the yard and building setbacks of the zone in
which located.
7. Outdoor advertising signs shall not exceed a height
of 36 feet measured from ground level to the high-
est part of the structure, provided that the mini-
mum height of the lowest display surface shall be
elevated to a height of eight (8) feet from the
ground. The maximum height of any portion of such
sign structure shall be twenty-seven (27) feet
when within a radius of 300 feet of a residential
structure.
8. All billboard signs shall be subject to precise
plan approval.
(c) OTHER STRUCTURAL LIMITATIONS
1. All free-standing billboards shall be
constructed on steel supports.
2. No artificial light of whatever type shall be
so placed as to direct such artificial light
into any residential structure.
3. No rotating revolving or flashing lighting
devices shall be attached to or made a part of
any billboard or advertising sign."
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required
by law.

I, JAMES MILLER, City Clerk of the City of Azusa, do hereby
certify that the foregoing Ordinance No. 910 was regularly intro-
duced and placed upon its first reading at a regular meeting of the
City Council on the 20th day of November , 1967. That, thereafter,
said ordinance was MY-adopted and passed at a regular meeting of the
City Council on the 4th day of December , 1967, by the following
vote, to wit :

thereof in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, a newspaper of general
circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of
