AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING
A PORTION OF GLADSTONE STREET IN THE CITY OF AZUSA
TO BE PART OF THE SYSTEM OF COUNTY HIGHWAYS.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby finds, determines
and declares;
(a) That the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los
Angeles, California, on the 21st day of February,
1967, passed and adopted a Resolution by a four-
fifths vote of its members, declaring that the
portion of Gladstone Street within the City limits
of the City of Azusa, namely that portion between
200 feet west of Lark Ellen Avenue and Heathdale
Avenue, to be a part of the System of County
Highways in said County, as provided in Sections
1700 to 1702 inclusive, of the Street and Highway
Code, of the State of California.
(b) That a certified copy of said Resolution was duly
served upon the City of Azusa, a municipal corpora-
tion, by filing a certified copy thereof in the
office of the City Clerk of the City of Azusa.
(c ) That Section 1700 to 1702 inclusive of the Street
and Highway Code of the State of California,
authorize the Board of Supervisors of any County,
by Resolution adopted by four-fifths of its members,
to declare any highway in the County, lying in whole
or in part in a City, to be a County highway.
(d) That it is the purpose of the Board of Supervisors
of said County to improve said Street, provided
the consent of the governing body of the City
of Azusa shall be first given.
(e) That the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles
County has agreed to relinquish jurisdiction over
that part of said Gladstone Street herein described,
upon the completion of the construction and improvement
and repair of the same, as authorized so to do under
Section 1704 of the Street and Highway Code.
SECTION 2. That the City Council of the City of Azusa
consents to the establishment of that part of Gladstone Street and
intersecting streets appurtenant to the construction thereof within
the City limits hereinbefore described, to be a part of the System
of County Highways.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace,
health and safety. That that part of said Gladstone Street
herein described is urgently in need of repair and widening to
make the same a safe highway for public travel.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance, and cause the same to be published in the manner
required by law, and this Ordinance is to take effect immediately
upon its adoption.
Passed and approved this 6th day of March, 1967.
