APPROVAL OF THE 2018 POWER SOURCE DISCLOSURE REPORT AND
THE 2018 POWER CONTENT LABEL AND ATTEST TO THE CALIFORNIA
ENERGY COMMISSION
BACKGROUND:
Senate Bill 1305 (SB 1305), enacted in 1997, requires retail providers to disclose sources of electric
generation by fuel type. Commonly referred to as the Power Source Disclosure Program Report
(PSD), the City submits this initial information by June of each year to the California Energy
Commission (CEC). Thereafter the CEC releases the Power Content Label (PCL), a template used
by retail providers to provide information to customers about the utility's mix of electricity with
reference to the mix of resources used in California for the reporting year. The 2018 PSD and
Power Content Label will report that 32.5% of Azusa Light and Water (ALW) electricity sales were
derived from eligible renewable energy resources, i.e. 12% wind, 19% solar, and 2% small-hydro.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the Utility Board take the following action:
1)Approve the 2018 Power Source Disclosure Program Annual Report;
2)Approve the 2018 Power Content Label; and
3)Authorize the Director of Utilities, or his designee, to execute and submit the Power
Source Disclosure Program Attestation Form.
ANALYSIS:
Staff has prepared the City's 2018 Power Content Label with its applicable fuel mix and will update
the California power mix column once it is published by the CEC by late summer.
