Award Contract for Water Project W-347 Citrus and Foothill Blvd 830 Tie In no attachementE-6-------tt TO: FROM: DATE: CONSENT CALENDAR HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE AZUSA UTILITY BOARD MANNY ROBLEDO, DIRECTOR OF UTILITIES Lf\C/L. MAY 28, 2019 SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR WATER PROJECT W-347 CITRUS AVENUE AND FOOTHILL BOULEVARD 830 TIE-IN BACKGROUND: In March 2019, Azusa Light & Water (ALW) issued a notice inviting formal bids (NIB) for the Water Division's Citrus Avenue and Foothill Boulevard 830 Tie-In Capital Improvement Project. This project will replace a section of abandoned water pipe and provide a redundant feed to the 830 pressure zone. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Utility Board take the following action: 1)Approve the Award of Contract to C.P. Construction Co., Inc. of Ontario, California for Water Project W-347; and 2)Authorize the Mayor to execute the Contract, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney. ANALYSIS: The water main that crosses Cilrus Avenue, connecting the water mains on the west and east sides of the street, has been identified as a high priority replacement. Currently, the water main is disconnected due to a severe leak. ALW has prepared the Water Plans and Specifications for its replacement in-house. Replacing and reconnecting the water main will provide a secondary feed to a critical portion of the 830 pressure zone. The pipeline replacement is located on Citrus Avenue, just south of Foothill Boulevard, and will include the installation of 100 linear feet of 12-inch ductile iron class 350 water pipe.
