AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA AMENDING THE AZUSA MUNICIPAL CODE AS AMENDED
BY ORDINANCE NO. 663 RELATING TO THE OFFICE OF CITY
ADMINISTRATOR, PRESCRIBING THE QUALIFICATIONS
THEREOF, AND ESTABLISHING THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF
SAID OFFICE.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1. The existing Chapter 4 of Article II of the
Azusa Municipal Code consisting of Sections 2400 to 2405, inclusive,
is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. The Azusa Municipal Code is hereby amended by
the addition to Article II thereof of a new Chapter 4 consisting of
Sections 2400 to 2408, inclusive, reading as follows:
" CHAPTER 4 - CITY ADMINISTRATOR
SECTION 2400. OFFICE CREATED. APPOINTMENT.
There is hereby created the office of City Administrator.
The City Administrator shall be appointed by and serve at the
pleasure of the City Council, and shall be chosen on the basis
of his executive and administrative qualifications, which shall
include a combination of at least eight years of college
education and practical municipal experience in the same or
similar position.
SECTION 2401. COMPENSATION.
The City Administrator shall receive such compensation and
expense allowances as the City Council shall from time to time
determine and fix by ordinance or resolution.
SECTION 2402. RESIDENCE.
Residence in the City at the time of appointment of a City
Administrator shall not be required as a condition of appoint-
ment, but within one year thereafter the City Administrator shall
become a resident of the City of Azusa or the City Council may
declare the office of City Administrator to be vacant.
SECTION 2403. ELIGIBILITY.
No member of the City Council shall be eligible for
appointment as City Administrator while serving as such member or
until one year has elapsed after such Council member shall have
ceased to be a member of the City Council.
SECTION 2404. POWERS AND DUTIES.
Subject to policy prescribed by the City Council, the City
Administrator shall have the power and it shall be his duty:
(a) to supervise the administrative affairs of the City)
(b) to make such recommendations to the City Council
concerning the affairs of the City as he may deem desirable,
including the proposal of ordinances and resolutions he has

published prior to the expiration of the fifteen days from the passage
thereof in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, a newspaper of general circu-
lation, printed, published and circulated in the City of Azusa, on the
27 day of September , 1961, and that the same was published in
accordance with law.
