;The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place.
i
The•Mayor led in the salute to the flag*
iInvocation was given by Rev. Paul Farrell, of the Invocation
;First Christian Church.
'Present -at Roll Call: Councilmen: Ortuno,
Johnson, Romero, Memmesheimer
Absent: Councilman Fawcett
The Master Plan of Northaide Park, previously
'tabled, was presented to Council for considera-
ition.
Moved by Councilman Romero, seconded by Council-
man Ortuno, this matter be raised from the table.
•Motion carried unanimously.
Discussion was held relative to the "Pitch and Putt"
golf'course. Consideration was given to possible
protests of neighbors, the size, which seemed inade-
quate, and other -points.
Moved by Councilman Romero, seconded by Council-
man.Ortuno, the plan be approved for the westerly
part of the park. Motion carried unanimously
Further consideration to be given on the installa-
tion,of the "Pitch and Putt" golf course.
Absent:- Councilman Fawcett.
The amended Workhble Program, submitted by the
Azusa Community Redevelopment Agency, was dis-
oussed.' Mr. Tscharner, Attorney for the Agency
explained certain points that were brought forth.
Mr. Arthur Cornwell, Chairman of the Agency, stated
that this program can, at any later date, be dis-
continued if it,should prove undesirable.
Moved by Councilman Romero, seconded by Councilman
Ortunm, the Agency request Mr. Priebe, of the
Rousing -Administration, to appear on Thursday.
January.9th at a joint meeting with Council, the
press and any other interested persons, Motion
carried unanimously.
Property -owners within the areas involved to be
-.notified of this meeting.
Councilman Johnson, referring to the record of
the.: Council meeting of October -15,•19579 stated
a'o"orrection was in order relative to the pur-
.•chase of certain land by the City through the
Court.
Moved by' 'Councilman Johnson, the check issued
in•the'amount of $630.00 constituting 10% of
the price quoted, be returned to the'City for
cancellation. Motion died for lack of second.
It was.recommended by the Supt. of Public Works,
and approved by the Personnel Board that Louis
Mirheanda, Utility Man II be raised to step 4 of
tsalary range, effective Dec* 1, 1957.
Moved by Councilman Romero, seconded by Council-
manOrtuno, the recommendation be accepted and
Louis -Miranda raised to step 4, effective Dec*
1', 1957. Motion carried unanimously.
The Light -Dept. requested authorization to
install ornamental lighting standards on Foot-
hill Blvd. Such lighting to extend to Pasadena
Avenue on the east, and Orange Avenue on the west.
Moved by Councilman Romero, seconded by Councilman
Ortuno, the Light Dept. be authorized to install
ornamental lighting, as requested, on Foothill
Blvd. Motion carried unanimously.

iment with the Hadley Cherry Company, they would
pay 06,750.00 for their share.

A fetter received from -Wayne N. Johnson, Electri-
cal Engineer, who has been retained by the City
,to .perform -certain engineering services, for the
,Light Dept., stated the cost of the'work, to date,
;has'amounted to 025,926.00. The -estimated coat
,was $259000.00. Mr. Johnson stated a rate study
covering the several classifications of tariffs
'and manual -of standards are yet to be completed.
,These could be completed within 120 days, the
',cost not to exceed $4,300.00.
'Moved by Councilman Romero, seconded by Council-
man-Ortuno, the City Attorney check the agreement
between the City and Wayne Johnson and, if necessary,
contact Mr. Johnson and report to Council. Motion
�carried•unanimously.
The Mutual Credit Bureau, who is handling the col-
lection of delinquent accounts, has asked permission
trom,the City to bring suit for the collection of
one of these accounts.
Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman
Romero, permission be granted to sue relative to
the case in question. Request to be submitted,
as needed, in future cases of accounts to be
handled in this manner. With no.objections, motion
ordered oarried.

It had been requested that the City Attorney give
in opinion on the legality of the -City advancing
payments to be made by the City employees if the
employees vote favorably to join OASDI with the
State Retirement System. This will be repaid with
payroll deductions. The Attorney stated in favor
'of the advancement by the City.
Councilman Romero offered the following resolution

On November 27th a joint meeting was held between
the'City-Engineer, Supt. of Light & Water, Mr. Joint meeting
Aultman of the James Montgomery Company and Mr, re: use of.
Abrams, relative to the utilization of all water reservoir
stored in the large reservoir. The Engineer
stated that a report will be submitted at the
next meeting.
One bid was received in answer to Notice Inviting Slauson Park
Bids, -for the remodeling of the bath house 1at Bath house
Slauson Park, in the amount of 48965.00- The remodeling re:
estimated cost was approximately 7500.00. Con- Bids
sideration was given to the advisability of re-

for supervisor states he would appreciate the filed -R. Hardy

The Treasurer's Report for the Visiting Nurse Assn.
for the year ending June 30, 1957 was received.
-It was recommended that the present agreement be
amended rather than a new agreement being drawn
yearly, as is presently being done.
Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman
'Romero, the agreement between the City and the
Visiting Nurses Assn, be referred to the City
-.Attorney for recommendation and revision. With no
objections, motion ordered carried.
A request was received from the secretary of the
Bill of.Rights Commemoration Committee, Ino. that
the-week'of Dec. 9th to 15th be proclaimed "Bill
'of Rights" week.
Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman
-Romero,-the request be granted and the week of
Dec. 9th through 15th be proclaimed "Bill of Rights"

The V. -F. W. submitted a request that Sunday, Dec.
8th be proclaimed V. F. W. day in celebration of
the Visit of their National Commander to the City
of- Azusa.

Romero, the day of Dec. 8th be proclaimed V. F. W.
day, astrequested. With no objections, motion
ordered parried.
'It was requested By the Supt of Public Works that
authorization be granted to advertise for and hire
'specialized tree fellers for the removal of many
'trees which exceed 70 to 80 fto in height and
which are hazardous to property and persons.

'Azusa Chamber of Commerce was submitted. These
items were ordered placed on file. .
It was requested by Supt. Smith that authorization
be granted to purchase 1 Model G-20 Ramsey Winch
-to include labor of installation on the truck for
the Light Department, total cost 01167.72.
