CITY HALL AZUSA, CALIFORNIA TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 1959 .7:00 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned
session at the above time and place.
Mayor Memmesheimer called the meeting to order.
Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Fawcett, Ortuno,
Johnson, Teasley, Memmesheimer
Also.Present: Supt, of Light and Water Smith,
Supt. of Public Works Brusnahan,
City Clerk -Administrative Officer
Miller
The Ordinance concerning light rates and rules and
regulations, having been read in full at the meeting
of February 17th, was presented for its second reading.
Councilman Ortuno offered the following Ordinance
entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
RELATING TO THE ADOPTION OF RATES AND CHARGES AND RULES
AND REGULATIONS OF THE LIGHT AND POWER DEPARTMENT.
Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman
Fawcett, and unanimously carried that further reading
be waived.
Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman
Fawcett, that the Ordinance be adopted. This Ordinance
was'then passed gnd adopted by the following vote of
Council: -
AYES: Councilmen: Fawcett,
NOES: Councilmen: Johnson
ABSENT: Councilmen: None
and numbered Ordinance No. 596.

The landscaping plan for the new library was presentdd
for Council consideration. The landscaping plan had
been approved by the Library Board and the Park and
Recreation Commission previously. Discussion was held
on the various aspects of the plan.
Moved by Councilman Fawcett, seconded by Councilman
Ortuno, and unanimously carried that the City Council
accept the recommendation of the Library Board and the
Parkand Recreation Commission and that the plans and
specifications for the landscaping of the public library
beiapproved with the exception that the proposed tree
shown in the plan in the "growing area" in front of the
entrance be deleted at this time.
City"officials are invited to the dedication of the
Arcadia Fire Station on March 1, 1959, at 2:00 P.M.
Notice was'given of the Directors' meeting of the
League of California Cities to be held on Tuesday,
March 5th.
Councilman Fawcett brought up for discussion the
po"ssibility of sewers being installed on the west
side of.Irwindale Avenue to serve the industrial
area in the southwest part of ,the City.
Moved by Councilman Fawcett, seconded by Councilman
Ortuno, and ordered carried that the Engineer prepare
plans showing the need for sewer service in the in-
dustrial area in the southwest part of the City.

Councilman Johnson asked that consideration be given to
changing from "No Parking at any time" to a restricted
no parking on the east side of Vernon Avenue near 3rd
Street.
Moved by'Councilman Fawcett, seconded by Councilman
Johnson, and ordered carried that the City Engineer
and the Chief of.Police be instructed to reconsider
the -parking prohibitions on Vernon Avenue at 3rd Street
with the thought in mind of arriving at an alternate
solution.
At the request of Councilman Ortuno, clarification was
made by the Superintendent of the Light Department on
the matter of "shut -offs" for non-payment of light and
water bills.

Ortuno, and ordered carried that the meeting adjourn.
