AGENDA ITEM
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
6 FROM: LOUIE H. PEDROZA JR. , SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
VIA: HENRY GARCIA, CITY ADMINISTRATOR
DATE: DECEMBER 20, 1993
SUBJECT: COMPLETION OF HAZARDOUS WASTE REMOVAL FROM THE
CITY YARD AND APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDERS
On June 7, 1993 the City Council approved the removal of all
remaining hazardous waste from the City Yard to Chemical Waste
Management, Inc. in the amount of $8,253. 00.
A determination of an exact amount is virtually impossible due to
unknown weight and gallons. During the removal process, additional
paints and copper sulfur were brought into the City Yard by a City
Crew from an illegal roadside dumping. A stock sewer chemical was
determined by the L.A. County Department of Agriculture as not
usable within a public system. Therefore change orders in the
amount of $2,525.50 were required.
After three years of continuous budgeting and removal, the City
Yard is presently free from any and all hazardous waste materials.
This project was budgeted through the C.I.P. fund, account no. 220-
400-2200-6493 project no. 756200.
RECOMMENDATION:
 I
Staff is recommending Council approval of hazardous waste removal )
from the City Yard and approval of the change orders authorizing
additional payment to Chemical Waste Management, Inc. in the amount \
of $2,522 .50.
