PEDROZA JR. , SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS Lt VIA: HENRY GARCIA, CITY ADMINISTRATOR k DATE: JUNE 21, 1993 SUBJECT: ZACHARY PADILLA DAY On June 7, 1993 in Las Vegas Nevada, a lifelong resident of Azusa for thirty years accomplished a monumental victory. Zachary Padilla pursued and was awarded by unanimous decision the World Boxing Organization Super Lightweight World Championship Title. Throughout his career, Zachary Padilla has brought notability and fame to Azusa. His family has resided at 324 N. Coney Ave. for forty years. Mayor Eugene Moses has formulated an Ad Hoc Committee to honor Mr. Padilla for his accomplishment. The Padilla family has already initiated preparations at the Parish Hall for an evening of celebration. Family members, Councilman John Dangleis and myself met on June 17, 1993 and agreed to combine efforts and resources to formulate a "Zachary Padilla Day. " On July 3, 1993 at the Parish Hall on Dalton Ave. , a dinner and dance is planned to celebrate this day. Admission to this event is set at $8. 00 per person. However, the committee is requesting the City's participation in this community event and Council's approval of the following items: 1. Provide two Azusa Police Officers for security from 5: 00 p.m. to 12 : 00 midnight and waive all fees. 2 . Underwrite $750. 00 for expenses. 1 1 •11 AO 213 East Foothill Blvd., P.O. Should the event be financially successful, the remaining funds are to be donated to Johnny Chavez, a retired professional boxer from Azusa, to assist him with his financial burden. PEDROZA JR. , SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS VIA: HENRY GARCIA, CITY ADMINISTRATOR/ DATE: JUNE 21, 1993 SUBJECT: STREET SWEEPING CONTRACT WITH THE CITY OF DUARTE The Public Works Department has reached an agreement with the City of Duarte to provide street sweeping services. The annual cost to Duarte will generate $65, 000.00 in revenue for the City of Azusa. The financial analysis is as follows: Productive Hours 1783 Duarte Service 1152 -.6461% of one Maintenance Worker III Salary $22, 655.00 Benefits $ 7,855.00 City & Dept. Overhead $20, 627. 00 Depreciation Insurance, legal $ 3 ,788. 00 Employee Related Fuel $ 1, 000.00 Brooms $ 2, 000. 00 Maintenance S 2 . 300. 00 TOTAL 560.225. 00 The Public Works staff has formulated a sweeping schedule that includes contract sweeping while maintaining the current level of service within Azusa. Therefore, staff is requesting approval of the agreement/contract with the City of Duarte and authorizing signature by the City Administrator. 9) 7 21- East Foothill Blvd., P.O.
