SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF TWO TORO GROUNDSMASTER MOWERS
The Public Works Department is requesting approval to purchase
two Toro GM Groundsmaster 345 Mowers to replace the two existing
units which are currently in the state of disrepair. Timely,
expensive repairs and the present condition of these units are
a major contributor to numerous delays in the mowing schedule
throughout the City.
Three units have been demonstrated and staff has determined the
low bid would adequately serve our needs .

2. Simpson Norton Corporation $15 ,950 . 00 each
3 . West Star Distributing, Inc. $17 ,885 . 00 each
This particular equipment was not budgeted for in fiscal year
1994/95 however, the funds are available and can be obtained
through a budget transfer from two surplus accounts 101-400-
2312-6405 professional services , and 101-400-2312-6499 contract
services .
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends Council approval to purchase two Toro GM
Groundsmaster 345 Mowers in the amount of $26, 456 . 00 from
California Turf and authorize the budget transfer necessary
for their purchase. /

SUBJECT: CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING
The Public Works Department and Western Disposal have been working
cohesively, by combining resources in order to divert Christmas
Trees from landfills for the past three years.
By asking residents to drop off their old Christmas Tree at their
nearest park within a three week period, has proven to be 40%
successful in diverting the trees from landfills to a recycling
facility.
In order to reach our goal of 100%, Western Disposal has agreed to
assign one driver and truck solely to pick up all Christmas Trees
from the curbside and transport to a County landfill site for
mulching. Western Disposal will fulfill this additional service at
no additional cost.
Therefore, the City of Azusa will be providing a curbside recycling
program of all Christmas Trees to their residents this year. S_J a
