PEDROZA JR., SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS VIA: HENRY GARCIA DATE: JULY 5, 1994 SUBJECT: CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING The Public Works Department and Western Disposal have been working cohesively, by combining resources in order to divert Christmas Trees from landfills for the past three years. By asking residents to drop off their old Christmas Tree at their nearest park within a three week period, has proven to be 40% successful in diverting the trees from landfills to a recycling facility. In order to reach our goal of 100%, Western Disposal has agreed to assign one driver and truck solely to pick up all Christmas Trees from the curbside and transport to a County landfill site for mulching. Western Disposal will fulfill this additional service at no additional cost. Therefore, the City of Azusa will be providing a curbside recycling program of all Christmas Trees to their residents this year. S_J a LHPJ/rm ,r01 k. 213 East Foothill Blvd. , P.O.
