The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned session'at the above time and place. Mayor Memmesheimer called the meeting to order. Call to Order Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Paul, Ortuno, Teasley, Memm sheimer Absent: Councilman: Johnson A1so,Present: City Clerk -Administrative Officer Miller Councilman Ortuno offered for its second reading the Ord. 612 - following Ordinance fixing the amount of money to be Fixing Money raised by Taxes: to be raised by taxes AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY NECESSARY TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION„FOR-THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1959. Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman Paul, and ordered carried that further reading be waived. Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman Paul that -the Ordinance be adopted. The Ordinance was then passed and adopted by the following vote of Council: AYES: Councilmen: Paul, Ortuno, Teasley, Memmesheimer NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: •Councilmen: Johnson and numbered Ordinance No. 612. y, A Resolution was prepared fixing the tax rate for the Res. 3945 - fiscal year 1959-60. This Resolution sets 145 cents Fixing Tax for the Total -General Tax Rate. rates Councilman Ortuno offered the following Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES AND LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1959. Moved -by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman Paul, and ordered carried that further reading be waived. Moved"by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman Paul', that the Resolution be adopted. The Resolution was,then passed and adopted by the following vote of Council: AYES: Councilmen: Paul, Ortuno, Teasley, Memmesheimer NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: Johnson 4nd numbered Resolution No. 3945. Mrs. "'Joan McKinney, Steno -Clerk in theEngineering and J. McKinney Public Works Department, submitted her resignation as resignation of September 10th, and asked that her name be placed accepted on the eligibility list for future employment. Moved by"Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman Teasley, and ordered unanimously carried that Mrs. McKinney's"resignation be accepted and her name placed on the -eligibility list. Moved by Councilman Teasley, seconded by Councilman Auth for Ortuno, and ordered carried that, if no names remain Steno -Clerk on the current eligibility list, authorization be exam given given to schedule a Stene -Clerk examination as soon as possible. 430 ... �. a%Y Vla a•� CITY!HALL. AZUSA, CALIFORNIA TUESDAY, AUGUST 25, 1959 Page 2 A Contract Agreement was presented from A-1 Contractors, for the improvement of the balance of Russell Street from Pasadena Avenue to 515 feet east of Pasadena Ave. The cost quoted for curbs, gutters, pavement, etc. is $1825.30. This is for the area adjacent to Gladstone Park. Moved'by Councilman Teasley, seconded by Councilman Ortuno, and unanimously carried that the proposal of A-1 Contractors be accepted, and the price of $1825.30 authorized for the work outlined in the contract. A communication was presented from Attorney Williams stating'that the Pacific Electric Railway had agreed to pay the,City $10,000. and the City would, in turn, pave the tracks on Ninth Street. Moved'by Councilman Paul, seconded by Councilman Ortuno, and unanimously carried that Council accept the agree- ment'with the P. E. Railway, with the proviso that the necessary easements for the crossing at Orange Avenue be included in the agreement. Notice was given that the Agreement with White's for ambulance service is due to expire, and if it is the wish of=the Council, authorization should be given for its renewal. Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman Teasley,'and ordered carried that authorization be given for the renewal of the agreement with White's, and the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign same. 4k Approval of contract with A-1 Conttactors for impvmt of Russell St Agreement with P E Rwy re 9th Street tracks Ambulance agreement renewed' The Financial Statement of the Visiting Nurses' Assoc- V.N.A. financia. iation of Azusa for the year ending June 30, 1959, was report filed presented to Council. Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman Paul and ordered -carried that the report be filed. Notice was given that approval had been received from the Board.of.Supervisors for the renewal of the General Services Agreement for a five year period. Moved by Councilman Paul, seconded by Councilman Ortuno and ordered carried that the notice be filed. Council .wa's. notified of the League of California Cities Board of Directors meeting to be held on Thursday, September 3rd, at Rodger Young Auditorium. Councilman'Paul stated that he had been contacted re- lative to the poor -condition of Todd Avenue, and asked that the Public Works Department investigate this matter, and also determine whether it is a dedicated street. Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Councilman Teasley and ordered carried that the meeting adjourn. Time of adjournment 8:00 P.M.
