HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 604 X17 ORDINANCE NO. 604 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESIGNATED "SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 35" TO THE CITY OF AZUSA. The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as follows: WHEREAS, on the 4th day of March, 1959, the Council of the City of Azusa did pass and adopt Resolution No. 3866 giving notice of the proposal to annex certain uninhabited territory to the City of Azusa, said territory being therein designated as "Southerly Annexation District No. 35"; said resolution described the boundaries of the terri- tory proposed to be annexed, and WHEREAS, said Resolution No. 3866 did contain a notice of the day, hour and place when and where the Council of the City would hear protests made by any person owning real property within the terri- tory proposed to be annexed, the owner or owners of all the territory to be annexed having filed their consent to suds annexation in writing with the City Council, and WHEREAS, on the 6th day of April, 1959, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, State of California, said time and place being the day, hour and place fixed in said Resolution No. 3866 for hearing protests to the said annexation, the said City Council did hear and pass upon all protests made to the proposed annexation and did determine that protests had not been made by the owners of one-half of the value of the territory proposed to be annexed as shown by the last equal- ized assessment roll, nor by public and private owners of one-half of the value of the territory proposed to be annexed as determined by said legis- lative body, and WHEREAS, said territory is contiguous to the City of Azusa, and is uninhabited territory in the County of Los Angeles; NOW, THEREFORE, the said Council of the City of Azusa does hereby approve the annexation of the territory hereinafter described to the City of Azusa, and does hereby further ordain that the said terri- tory be and is hereby annexed to the City of Azusa. That said territory, the annexation of which to the City of Azusa, is hereby approved, is all that territory situate in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, more particularly described as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the easterly line of the strip of land for Azusa Avenue, as described in deed to State of California filed as Document No. 7041-J on April 10, 1941 under provisions of the Land Title Act, recorded in the office of the Recorder of the County of Los Angeles, with the southerly boundary of the City of Azusa as same existed on March 2, 1959; thence easterly along said southerly boundary to the westerly line of Tract No. 19685, as shown on map recorded in Book 505, pages 8 to 14 inclusive of Maps, in the office of said recorder; thence southerly along said westerly line to the south line of the north half of the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter of Fractional Section 2, Township 1 South, Range 10 West, S.B.B.&M.; thence westerly along said south line to said easterly line of Azusa Avenue; thence northerly along said easterly line to the point of beginning. -1 • - 1 That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and publish the same as required by law. CITY OF AZUSA I, JAMES MILLER,- City Clerk of the City of Azusa, do hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance No. 604 was regularly introduced and placed upon its first reading at a regular meeting of the City Council on the 6th day of _ Aril , 1959.
