ORDINANCE NO. 598
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING
THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY
DESIGNATED "SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 33,
REVISED" TO THE CITY OF AZUSA.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as'
follows:
WHEREAS, on the 5th day of January, 1959, the Council of
the City of Azusa did pass and adopt Resolution No. 3837 giving notice
of the proposal to annex certain uninhabited territory to the City of
Azusa, said territory being therein designated as "Southerly Annexation
District No. 33, Revised"; said resolution described the boundaries of
the territory proposed to be annexed, and
WHEREAS, said Resolution No. 3837 did contain a notice of
the day, hour and place when and where the Council of the City would hear
protests made by any person owning real property within the territory
proposed to be annexed, the time of said hearing being not less than
forty nor more than sixty days from the date of passage of said reso-
lution, and
WHEREAS, on the 16th day of February, 1959, at the hour of
8:00 o'clock. p.m. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the City
of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, State of California, said time and
place being the day, hour and place fixed in said Resolution No. 3837
for hearing protests to the said annexation, the said City Council did
hear and pass upon all protests made to the proposed annexation and did
determine that protests had not been made by the owners of one-half of
the value of the territory proposed to be annexed as shown by the last
equalized assessment roll, nor by public and private owners of one-half
of the value of the territory proposed to be annexed as determined by
said legislative body, and
WHEREAS, said territory is contiguous to the City of Azusa,
and is uninhabited territory in the County of Los Angeles;
NOW, THEREFORE, the said Council of the City of Azusa does
hereby approve the annexation of the territory hereinafter described to
the City of Azusa, and does hereby further ordain that the said territory
be and is hereby annexed to the City of Azusa.
That said territory, the annexation of which to the City of
Azusa, is herein approved, is all that territory situate in the County
of Los Angeles, State of California, more particularly described as
follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the southerly boundary
of the City of Azusa as same existed on October 31, 1958,
(along Gladstone Street) with the northerly prolongation
of the westerly line of "Southerly Annexation District
No. 28" as established by Ordinance No. 562 of the City
of Azusa; thence southerly along said prolongation and
continuing southerly, westerly, northerly and easterly
along the boundary of said City to the point of beginning.

That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
ordinance and publish the same as required by law.

I, JAMES MTTJ RR, City Clerk of the City of Azusa, do
hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance No. 598 was regularly
introduced and placed upon its first reading at a regular meeting of
the City Council on the 2nd day of March , 1959. That,
thereafter, said ordinance was duly adopted and passed at a regular
meeting of the City Council on the 16th day of March , 1959,
by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen: Ortuno, Johnson, Teasley, Memmesheimer
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT: Councilmen: None

I do further certify that I caused said ordinance to be
published prior to the expiration of fifteen days from the passage
thereof in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, a newspaper of general
circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of Azusa,
on the 23rd day of March , 1959, and that the same was pub-
lished IR-accordance with law.
