ORDINANCE NO. 587
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING
THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY
DESIGNATED SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 31
TO THE CITY OF AZUSA.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as follows :
WHEREAS, on the 18th day of August, 1958, the City Council
of the City of Azusa did pass and adopt Resolution No. 3788 giving
notice of the proposal to annex certain uninhabited territory to the
City of Azusa, said territory being therein designated as Southerly
Annexation District No. 31, and said Resolution describing the
boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed; and
WHEREAS, said Resolution No. 3788 did contain a notice of
the day, hour and place when and where the Council of the City would
hear protests made by any person owning real property within the
territory proposed to be annexed, the time of said hearing being not
less than forty nor more than sixty days from the date of passage of
said Resolution; and
WHEREAS, on the 6th day of October, 1958, at the hour of
8:00 olclock P.M. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the City
of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, State of California, said time and place
being the day, hour and place fixed in said Resolution No. 3788 for
hearing protests to said annexation, the said City Council did hear and
pass upon all protests made to the proposed annexation and did determine
that protests had not been made by the owners of one-half of the value
of the territory proposed to be annexed as shown by the last equalized
assessment roll, nor by public and private owners of one-half of the
value of the territory proposed to be annexed as determined by said
legislative body; and
WHEREAS, said territory is contiguous to the City of Azusa,
and is uninhabited territory in the County of Los Angeles;
NOW, THEREFORE, the said Council of the City of Azusa does
hereby approve the annexation of the territory hereinafter described
to the City of Azusa, and does hereby further ordain that the said
territory be and is hereby annexed to the City of Azusa.
That said territory, the annexation of which to the City of
Azusa is hereby approved, is all that territory situate in the County
of Los Angeles, State of California, more particularly described as
follows :
Beginning at the intersection of the southerly boundary
of the City of Azusa, as same existed March 1, 1958,
with a line that is perpendicular thereto and that
passes through a point in the north line of the south-
east quarter of Fractional Section 3, Township 1 South,
Range 10 West, S.B.B.&M., distant easterly thereon 340
feet from the northwest corner of said southeast
quarter; thence southerly along said perpendicular
line to a point distant southerly thereon 208 feet
from the south line of Gladstone Street (formerly
Gladstone Avenue, 60 feet wide) , as shown on map of
Tract No. 13824, recorded in Book 275, pages 1 to
4 inclusive of Maps, in the office of the Recorder
of the County of Los Angeles; thence easterly parallel

with said south line to the westerly line of the strip
of land, 50 feet wide (formerly Little Dalton Wash) ,
as described in deed to Los Angeles County Flood Con-
trol District filed on June 12, 1930 as Document No.
189 +09 under provisions of the Land Title Act, and
entered on Certificate of Title No. GG 60142 recorded
in the office of the Recorder of said County; thence
southerly and southwesterly along the westerly and
northwesterly lines of said last mentioned strip of
land to the easterly line of Lot 2 of Tract No. 14577,
as shown on map recorded in Book 308, pages 35 and
36 of said Maps; thence southerly along said easterly
line to the northwesterly line of the strip of land,
65 feet wide, as described in Parcel 160 of Final
Judgment in favor of Los Angeles County Flood Control
District, a certified copy of which is recorded in
Book 37269, page 362 of Official Records of said
County; thence northeasterly along said last mentioned
northwesterly line to the easterly prolongation of
said south line of Gladstone Street; thence westerly
along said last mentioned prolongation to a point
therein distant easterly along said last mentioned
prolongation and south line 1287.76 feet from said
northwest corner of the southeast quarter of said
Section 3; thence northerly, perpendicular to said
south line, to said southerly boundary of the City of
Azusa; thence westerly along said southerly boundary
to the point of beginning.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required
by law.

I, JAMES MTT,L1 R, City Clerk of the City of Azusa, do hereby
certify that the foregoing Ordinance No. 587 was regularly introduced
and placed upon its first reading at a regular meeting of the City
Council on the 6th day of October , 1958. That, thereafter,
said ordinance was duly adopted and passed at a regular meeting of the
City Council on the 20th day of October , 1958, by the follow-
ing vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen: Fawcett, Ortuno, Johnson, Teasley, Memmesheimer
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT:Councilmen: None

I do further certify that I caused said Ordinance to be pub-
lished prior to the expiration of fifteen days from the passage thereof
in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, a newspaper of general circulation,
