HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 523 ORDINANCE NO. 523 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGRTES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY, DESIGNATED "EASTERLY ANNEXATION NO. 16", TO THE CITY OF AZUSA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, on the 20th day of August, 1956, the Council of the City of Azusa did pass and adopt Resolution No. 3494 giving notice of the proposal to annex certain uninhabited territory to the City of Azusa, said territory being therein designated as 'Easterly Annexa- tion No. 16", said Resolution describing the boundaries of the terri- tory proposed to be annexed; and WHEREAS, said Resolution No. 3494 did contain a notice of the day, hour and place when and where the Council of the City would hear protests made by any person owning real property within the territory proposed to be annexed, the time of said hearing being not less than forty nor more than sixty days from the date of passage of said Resolution; and WHEREAS, on the 15th day of October, 1956, at the hour of 8:00 o' clock P.M. , in the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, State of California, said time and place being the day, hour and place fixed in said Resolution No. 3494 for hearing protests to the said annexation, the said City Council did hear and pass upon all protests made to the proposed annexation and did determine that protests had not been made by the owners of one-half of the value of the territory proposed to be annexed as shown by the last equalized assessment roll, nor by public and private owners of one-half of the value of the territory proposed • to be annexed as determined by said legislative body; and WHEREAS, said territory is contiguous to the City of Azusa, and is uninhabited territory in the County of Los Angeles; NOW, THEREFORE, the said Council of the City of Azusa does hereby approve the annexation of the territory hereinafter described to the City of Azusa, and does hereby further ordain that the said territory be and is hereby annexed to the City of Azusa. That said territory, the annexation of which to the City of Azusa is herein approved, is all that territory situate in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, more particularly des- cribed as follows: Those portions of Lot "A" of Tract No. 1306 in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, as shown on map recorded in Book 18, Page 41 of Maps in the office of the Recorder of said County, and of Gladstone Street and Citrus Avenue as shown on the map of said tract and on the map of Tract No. 16435 recorded in Book 561, pages 16 and 17 of Maps in the office of the Recorder of said County, described as a whole as follows: Beginning at the most southerly southwesterly corner of "Easterly Annexation District No. 10" to the City of Azusa; thence southerly along the southerly prolongation of the westerly line of Lot 97 of said Tract No. 16435 to the center line of Gladstone Street, as said center- line is shown on the map of said Tract No. 16435; thence westerly along said centerline to the centerline of -1- Citrus Avenue, as shown on the map of said Tract No. 16435; thence southerly along said last mentioned centerline, and continuing southerly along the west line of the southwest quarter of Section 1, Township 1 South, Range 10 West, S.B.B.&M. , to a line that is parallel with the southerly line of said Lot "A" of Tract No. 1306, which parallel line passes through a point in the westerly line of said Lot "A", distant northerly thereon 380.00 feet from the southwest corner of said Lot "A"; thence easterly along said parallel line 308.44 feet; thence northerly, parallel with said west line of the southwest quarter of Section 1, to the southerly line of said "Easterly Annexation District No. 10" to the City of Azusa; thence westerly along said southerly line to the point of beginning. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall publish the same as required by law. Passed and approved this 23rd day of October , 1956.
