AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA,
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO VACATE AND
ABANDON CERTAIN STREETS AND ALLEYS HEREINBELOW
DESCRIBED LOCATED IN TRACT NO, 8507 OF AZUSA
AS PER MAP RECORDED IN BOOK 102 AT PAGES 78
TO 80 INCLUSIVE, OF MAPS RECORDS IN THE
OFFICE OF THE COUNTY RECORDER OF LOS ANGELES
COUNTY.
THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Azusa does ordain
as follows:
Section 1. It is the intention of the City Council
of the City of Azusa, Los Angeles County, California, to order the
vacation and abandonment of the hereinbelow designated streets and
alleys in Tract 8507 of Azusa as per map recorded in Book 102 at Pages 78
to 80 inclusive, of Maps Records in the Office of the County Recorder of
said Los Angeles County, said streets and alleys to be vacated and abandoned
being commonly known and described as follows, which said streets and alleys
are shown and designated on a proposed map for the vacation and abandonment
thereof, which map is on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City
of Azusa and which map is hereb:‘, referred to for particulars, said streets
and alleys being as follows, to wit:
North and South Streets as Follows:
Piedmont Avenue from the South liae of First Street on
the North, to the North line of Broadway on the South.
Arlington Avenue from the South line of First Street on
the Nnrth, to the North line of Broadway on the South.
Broadmoor Avenue from the South line of First Street on
the North, to the North line of Broadway on the South.
Van Ness Avenue from the South line of Roosevelt Street
on the North, to the North line of Broadway on the
South.
Alley-way running North and South between Irwindale
Avenue and Van Ness Avenue, from the South line of
Roosevelt Street on the North to the North line of
Broadway on the South, which alley-way is roughly
described as a North and South alley-way approximately
20 feet in width, the Westerly line of which is
approximately 120 feet East of the Easterly line of
Irwindale Avenue and the Easterly line of which is
approximately 125 feet West of the Westerly line of
Van Ness Avenue.
East and West Streets as Follows:
Mc Kinley Street, East from approximately 125 feet West
of the West line of Broadmoor Avenue, Easterly to the
East line of Piedmont Avenue.
Paramount Street, East from approximately 125 feet
West of the West line of Broadmoor Avenue, Easterly to

the East line of Piedmont Avenue.
Roosevelt Street, East from the East line of Van
Ness Avenue to the East line of Piedmont Avenue.
Also all or any other streets, highways or alley—
ways whether hereinabove specifically mentioned
or not, lying in said tract and within the outer
boundaries of

The East Half of Block 10 Block 18
The East Half of Block 9 Block 19

Section 2. The City Council of said City of Azusa
has determined that in the event the streets and alleys and parts of same are
vacated as proposed in this Ordinance, the public convenience and necessity
require the reservation of an easement for public utility purposes and an
exception as to mining cock, sand or gravel in said tract, wherefore the
proceedings had under this Ordinance are taken subject to the following
reservation and exception which have been so determined by said City Council
as attaching in case said streets and alleys and parts thereof arc vacated
as proposed, said easement and exception being as follows, to wit:
(A) The City Council, on behalf and in favor of the City
of Azusa, a municipal corporation, reserves an easement
not to exceed 10 feet in width in the North half of
Paramount Street, said easement running Easterly and
Westerly in said North half of Paramount Street in,
upon and over the North half of Paramount Street,
herein proposed to be vacated, viz, said North half
of Paramount Street extending East from approximately
125 feet West of the West line of Broadmoor Avenue,
Easterly to the East line of Piedmont Avenue, for th
purpose of constructing and maintaining lines and
works for public utilities such as water, gas,
electricity and sewers, with the proviso that the
owners of the land comprising what is now Paramount
Street, if said street be vacated, shall have the
right to change the location of such line or lines, so long
as the public utility served by same be not interrupted
by such changes, in event of which changes of location
a like easement for the construction and maintenance of
said line or lines shall be substituted, and held to
attach to said changed location.
(B) No excavation for the mining of rock, sand or gravel
in the vacated streets or in the blocks served by
same, viz, Block 5, the East half of Blocks 9 and 10,
and Blocks 11 to 20 inclusive, of said Tract 8507,
shall be made except upon the granting of a Special
Permit therefor in accordance with the provisions of
Article XVIII of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of
Azusa, known as Ordinance No. 409, which S eci 1 Pe mit

under the provisions of Section 18.9 of said Article
XVIII.

Section 3. Said City Council hereby fixes 7:30
OrclockP .Mon the 22 day of March , 19C01 as
the time and the regular Council Chambers located iu the City
Auditorium in the Civic Center of the City of Azusa, Los Angeles
County, California, as the place, for hearing all persons in-
terested in or objecting to the proposed vacation and abandonment
of said streets and alleys.
Section 4. The Mayor shall sign this Ordinance and
the City Clerk shall attest same and certify to the passage,
adoption and publication of the same, and shall cause the
same to be published once, within fifteen days after its
passage, in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, a weekly news-
paper of general circulation published and circulated in
the City of Azusa, which said newspaper is hereby designated
for that purpose, and thereupon and thereafter thirty days
after its passage this Ordinance shall take effect and be
in force.

I, Mae A. Hynes, City Clerk of the City of Azusa, Los
Angeles County, California, do hereby certify that the foregoing
Ordinance was duly introduced, placed upon its first reading
and fully read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said
City on February 6th 1950 held in the regular Council
Chambers of said City Council located in the City Auditorium
in the Civic Center in said City; that thereafter said Ordinance
was duly and regularly passed and adopted by said Council,
signed and approved by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk
of said City at a regular meeting of said City Council so held in
said regular council chambers of said Council on February 20th,
1950, and that the same was passed and adopted by the following
vote of the Council:
AYES: Councilmen: Nasser, Flannery, Malone, Memmesheimer.
NOES: None
Councilman Ortuno not voting.
ABSENT: None
I do further certify that I caused said Ordinance to be
published prior to the expiration of 15 days from the passage
thereof in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic on
1950, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and
circulated in said City of Azusa, and that same was published in
accordance with law.
