HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Packet - April 5, 1982 - CC S-I i DATE : MARCH 23 , 1982 TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL FROM: CITY CLERK Per the attached, the applicant is departing from the accepted and codified procedure with regard to the holding of auctions . Section 5. 12. 040 is clear, in that there is a charge of $30. 00 per day for auction sales . This would present a problem for the American Legion Post , as they wish to conduct a permanent auction sale as requested in their letter. Also, Section 5. 48. 010 requires permission by the City Council to do so. Section 5. 48. 020 requires a full, true and correct inventory of amount , quantity and description of the goods to be sold. Section 5. 48. 040 permits this type of sale to be limited to a period of no more than 30 consecutive days , with a waiver, if requested, not to exceed a combined total of 60 days, in any event . Therefore, as per the Azusa Municipal Code, this type of activity is not permitted. Respectfully, 1 ' / ` , i XfL V-c) c 4.74_,6,7" _, 4_,6 ter" ADOLPH A. Foothill Blvd. Azusa, Calif. 91702 Subject Auction: The American legion, Post #180, of Azusa and myself, Richard G. De Lepine desire to hold auctions on Tuesdays, twice monthly, at the hall of the post at 7 :00 pm till? These auctions are intended to generate funds for the Legion's charities and donations. I will receive a percentage of the sales for my management of the auction. The items for auction will be general merchandise ie shoes, pants, swim suits, gloves, jewelry, watches, tools, plumbing supplies ect. As we progress with the auction we will be accepting items from the participants that they will be putting up for sale. This will then become a neighborhood function that will benefit all. My State Board of Equalization number is SYAF 40-645884-001-AF issued Jan. 1982. All items sold be so taxed. I called the State Board in Covina and they have no objection and no state stature is violated. Your earliest approval of this request to hold the auctions will be greatly appreciated.
