VIrel zUS CONSENT CALENDAR TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: CAROLYN CRAWFORD, MANAGER SENIOR SERVICES VIA: RICK COLE, CITY MANAGER/ c2 DATE: MARCH 4, 2002 SUBJECT: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A RE-APPLICATION TO THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND SENIOR CITIZEN SERVICES REQUESTING OLDER AMERICAN ACT FUNDS AND THE SIGNING OF A CONTRACT FOR PROVIDING NUTRITION SERVICES FOR SENIOR CITIZENS AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF ALL DOCUMENTS. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that City Council approve a resolution authorizing staff to submit an application for the senior nutrition program funding for 2002-2003 and the Mayor, or Mayor Pro Tern, to sign contract and all necessary documents for said contract. BACKGROUND The City has applied to Los Angeles County for - and received - Older American Act funds for Congregate and Home Delivered meals since 1978.. The re-application package will request funds to provide the same level of service we are currently providing: Noon meals 5 days a week totaling 23,750 congregate and 9,658 home delivered meals. FISCAL IMPACT Potential income from County from meals grant is approximately$84,162 (the grant is performance based/how many meals we actually serve). With this amount is also the additional potential USDA reimbursement of$17,707 - again dependent on the total number of meals serve. RESOLUTION NO. 02-C30 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A RE- APPLICATION PROPOSAL AND THE SIGNING OF A CONTRACT FOR PROVIDING SERVICES FOR ELDERLY PERSONS AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF ALL DOCUMENTS. The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles Department of Community and Senior Citizens Services has been awarded the funds for providing services for the elderly under the Older American Act; WHEREAS, the City of Azusa wishes to re-apply for Older American Act funds for nutrition services, in order to administer said services; and WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City of Azusa approve the submittal of a re-application for Title III Funds, and WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City of Azusa designate and authorize a representative to sign the contract for Older American Act funds on behalf of the said City Council. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that the City Council of the City of Azusa hereby 1) Approve the submittal of a re-application for Older American Act funds, and 2) Designates the Mayor or his designee as the authorized representative to sign the contract and all documents necessary to accompany and contract, including all amendments to said contract within the fiscal year.
