HomeMy WebLinkAboutB- 5 Proposed Salary and Title change for Redevelopment Project Manager a Azusa Redevelopment Agency 0111" CONSENT CALENDAR TO: HONORABLE CHAIR AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD FROM: ROY E.BRUCKN rti„,4A60 CTOR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT VIA: RICK COLE,CITY MANAGER' DATE: APRIL 19, 1999 SUBJECT: PROPOSED SALARY AND TITLE CHANGE FOR REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT MANAGER Recommendation The Agency Board should approve changing the title of Redevelopment Project Manager to Senior Project Manager, and increase the salary range by 5%. Background The Agency's Redevelopment Project Manager position was held by Mr. Rick Forintos before he left to take a position with the City of Baldwin Park. In seeking a counter offer to Baldwin Park's offer for employment, he requested a title change to Senior Project Manager and a 5% increase in salary. Staff agreed to take the request to the Agency Board for approval. Even though Mr. Forintos has decided to move on,there is substantial need to fill the position with an experienced and talented professional, as the Agency is poised to undertake significant projects and programs. A Senior Project Manager position would attract candidates with the required advanced experience and skills the position demands. The existing salary range is$4,266 - $5,153 per month. The requested additional 5% would increase the range to $5,411 per month, and will assist in attracting top quality candidates. The Redevelopment Agency staff members are not subject to the civil service rules, and therefore greater flexibility is afforded in making organizational changes. Fiscal Impact There will be a long term increase of$3,100 annually to the Redevelopment Agency's personnel budget. However, with the Redevelopment Director's position having been vacant for approximately a year, handled by the Community Development Director, there has been significant salary savings. 44°1/4 VIC9if--- .
