SUBJECT: Part-Time Employment-Margaret Hall
BACKGROUND
On February 25, 1998,Margaret Hall,Economic Development Specialist,informed me of her resignation from
employment with the City of Azusa in order that she may spend more time with her child. Her resignation is
effective March 12, 1998. Because of the work that she is involved with,and because of the staffing needs of the
Community Development Department,I asked,and Mrs.Hall agreed,to work on a part-time basis.
DISCUSSION
Currently,the Compensation and Benefit Memorandum,Resolution 95-R68,does not include a part-time position
that meets the job description,nor salary structure,of an Economic Development Specialist. Therefore,it is
requested that the Redevelopment Agency Board of Directors create such a position and salary structure. It is
recommended that this position include a five-step merit increase salary structure,similar to all existing part-time
positions.
The salary structure is proposed as follows:

This salary structure is similar to the existing full-time permanent position of Economic Development Specialist.
Mrs.Hall has indicated that she would like to work approximately four hours a day,Monday through Thursday,for
an indefmite period of time.
It is recommended that Mrs.Hall be hired at Step 5,which is consistent with her current compensation. Funds for
this position are available in the regular salary account and,if the part-time position is approved,an appropriations
amendment will follow.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Redevelopment Agency Board of Directors amend Resolution 95-R68 to authorize the
creation of the part-time employment position of Economic Development Specialist and authorize the hiring of
Margaret Hall to fill such position at Step 5,or$29.00 per hour. �/f

A RESOLUTION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF
THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 95-
R68, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS MEMORANDUM
COVERING THE AGENCY EMPLOYEES EFFECTIVE JULY 1,
1995
THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Specialist has submitted a
resignation from full-time employment with the Redevelopment Agency; and
WHEREAS, there exists a need to maintain flexibility for various
Redevelopment Projects; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for a part-time Economic Development
Specialist; and
WHEREAS, the current Compensation and Benefits Memorandum
Covering the Agency does not include a part-time position of Economic Development
Specialist,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Redevelopment Agency of
the City of the City of Azusa does hereby,
1 . Create a part-time position of Economic Development Specialist at the
following salary range:
