CITY HALL AZUSA, CALIFORNIA FRIDAY, JUNE 23, 1961 6:00 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned session at the
aboTre time and place.
Preset at Roll Call: Councilmen: Paul, McLees, Johnson, Teasley, Roll

Vie Ccuncil was asked to consider whether they wished to extend the
exiQl-ing agreement between the City and the Chamber of Commerce.
Directors of the Chamber of Commerce appearing before Council were:
William Mays, Ray Barnes, Ernest Yahnke.
The Council deliberated at some length on the proposed budget pre-
pared by *he.Chamber of Commerce and or. the pros and cons of the
value �o the City of Golden Days Celebration.
Memher4 of the Council expressed personal opinions on various
aaoects of the proposed Chamber budget.
No Cotscil action taken on agreement or budget.
Review of the proposed budgets for the Police and Fire Departments
was next, considered by the Council. Chief of Police Kendrick
aop�ared before the Council in relation to his budget requests.
11,P tonic of vacation allowance in the Police Department was dis-
f -8.s +d. Chief Kendrick reported that an opinion of a former City
Attorney i^terpreted the Government Code Section dealing with
Police vacations as meaning each man was to be granted a leave of
15 working days.
It. wan brought out by Councilman Johnson that an AS;torney General s
opinion of the: Code Section 38639 should be interpreted to mean an
annual leave of 15 consecutive calendar days.

It, was roved by Councilman Johnson and seconded by Councilman Paul Req.
that the Personnel Board be requested to prepare an amendment to Amend.
the Personnel Rules and Regulations setting forth the annual leave re P.D.
for policemen to conform with the provisions of the Government Code annual
and computed on the basis of 15 consecutive calendar days. leave
Police Cbief Kendrick asked that this &?ner_dment be initiated to be
effective for time earned after July 1, 1961.
It was moved by Councilman Johnson, duly seconded and unanimously
carried that this meeting adjourn until 6:00 P.M. on Friday,
June 30, 1961, at the regular Council Chambers.
