Miss Cain, Librarian, and Mr. Gil Ross, member of the Library Library
Board, explained the proposed Library Budget for the fiscal Budget
year 1961-1962. The total budget request is $85,616.00 which,
if figured on an assessed valuation of $37,000,000.00, would
require a tax levy of 21.5 cents per $100 of assessed valuation.
Various phases of the budget requests were discussed by the
members of the Council and the Library representatives.
Councilman McLees stated that he felt that items for attend-
ance at conventions should be deleted from the budget to be
in line with the policy set forth by the Council for the year.
It was moved by Councilman Teasley, seconded by Councilman
Johnson and unanimously carried that the amount of $600.00
proposed for attendance at training conferences be reduced
by $300.00.
Also presented to Council was a letter from the Personnel
Board, recommending that regular employees of the City be
granted a salary increase in an amount equal to the salary
which would be received by the advancement to the next high-
est step in their presently held salary range. However,
those employees now on the fifth step of the salary range
would be recommended to be advanced in salary by 5%.
Moved by Councilman Teasley, seconded by Councilman Paul
and unanimously carried that the meeting adjourn.
