HomeMy WebLinkAboutE-09 Staff Report - Newburgh Street ADA Ramp Replacement Project NOCCONSENT ITEM E-9 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER FROM: ROBERT DELGADILLO, P.E., INTERIM DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER DATE: NOVEMBER 04, 2019 SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF PROJECT COMPLETION AND AUTHORIZATION TO FILE A NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE NEWBURGH STREET PAVEMENT PRESERVATION PROJECT. BACKGROUND: On July 15, 2019, the City Council awarded a contract to FS Contractors, Incorporated for the Newburgh Street Pavement Preservation Project. The project was completed on October 16, 2019. The proposed actions will accept the improvements, and authorize Staff to file a Notice of Completion for the project. RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions: 1)Accept the project improvements; and 2)Authorize Staff to file a Notice of Completion for the Newburgh Street Pavement Preservation Project. DISCUSSION: Los Angeles County Public Works (LACPW) proposed a pavement preservation project that is within the unincorporated region bounded by West Gladstone Street to the north, East Arrow Highway to the south, South Azusa Avenue to the east, and North Vincent Avenue to the west. A portion of the project was within City of Azusa’s jurisdiction. The completed project updated eight (8) existing curb ramps to current ADA standards. APPROVED CITY COUNCIL 11/4/2019 Newburgh Street Pavement Restoration Project November 04, 2019 Page 2 FISCAL IMPACT: The project was budgeted in the amount of $35,200 under project number 66120D-7170, and was completed within budget with a final cost of $32,400 using Measure “M” Local Return Funds.
