Public Works also has a 2001 Vac-Con Sewer truck that was primarily used as a backup sewer truck in the event of emergency callouts or maintenance of the primary Vactor Sewer Truck. The 2001 Vac-Con sewer truck has been out of service for several months due to costly maintenance and repairs. Public Works is proposing the purchase of the Vactor Diesel 2112 Plus Sewer Cleaner to improve efficiencies in operations and reduce downtime. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council take the following actions: 1) Authorize the City Manager to execute a purchase agreement with Haaker Equipment Company for the purchase of the Vactor Diesel 2112 Plus Sewer Cleaner and proposed attachments. APPROVED CITY COUNCIL 11/18/2019 Vactor Diesel 2112 Plus Sewer Cleaner November 18, 2019 Page 2 Haaker Equipment Company provided a demonstration to Public Works’ staff and the Vactor Diesel 2112 was capable of meeting the City’s sewer maintenance needs. Haaker Equipment Company also provides Sourcewell Cooperative Pricing (Contract #122017-FSC) which allows the City of Azusa to purchase per guidelines set forth in section 2-521 of the Azusa Municipal Code. Haaker Equipment Company provides a 1-year manufacturer’s guarantee for factory/workmanship defects. The Chassis has a 3-year/36,000 mile guarantee. FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for the purchase of the Vactor Diesel 2112 Sewer Truck was approved in the FY19-20 Capital Outlay Budget in the amount of $474,230. The additional $4,579.56 will be covered by the remaining balance from the purchase of the Backhoe which was approved by City Council on August 19, 2019.
