SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR AN INCREASE IN THE BLANKET PURCHASE ORDERS 210716 FOR
BEST, BEST&KRIEGER IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,000;AND 210720 FOR THE STATE
OF CALIFORNIA EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF
$20,700
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council approve an increase in the Blanket Purchase Orders as
follows:
1. Blanket PO Number 210716: Increase by $50,000 for a total of $225,000.
2. Blanket PO Number 210720: Increase by $2,700 for a total of $20,700.
BACKGROUND
Blanket purchase order number 210716 for the law offices of Best, Best & Krieger, LLP was
established at $175,000 for the 2001-02 fiscal year. The blanket purchase order was exceeded
due to a rise in activity due to Personnel issues, disciplinary actions, and Azusa Head Start
Blanket purchase order number 210720 for the State of California Employment Development
Department was increased, as approved by City Council in December 2001, from $10,000 to
$18,000. The blanket purchase order is now requested for increase from $18,000 to $20,700
through existing transfers of funds from within the approved Human Resources Department
operating budget for the 2001-02 fiscal year.
Unemployment Insurance (UI) is a nationwide program created to provide partial wage
replacement to unemployed workers while they conduct an active search for new work. The UI
program is administered by the EDD in accordance with the guidelines established by the Ul Code
and the California Code of Regulations, Title 22.
FISCAL IMPACT
These actions transfer a total of $52,700 within the existing appr ved Human Resources
Department operating budget for the 2001-02 fiscal year.
