BACKGROUND The blanket purchase order for the California State Employment Development Department(EDD) was established at $8,000 for the 2001-02 fiscal year. The blanket purchase order amount was established based upon previous years' activity. An unexpected rise in claims activity exceeded the initial activity level forecast for this fiscal year. Unemployment Insurance (UI) is a nationwide program created to provide partial wage replacement to unemployed workers while they conduct an active search for new work. The UI program is administered by the EDD in accordance with the guidelines established by the UI Code and the California Code of Regulations, Title 22. FISCAL IMPACT This action transfers $10,000 from the General Fund fund balance into the Human Resources Department operating budget for the 2001-02 fiscal year.
