TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER
FROM: ANN GRAF, DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND LIBRARY
SERVICES
DATE: JANUARY 21, 2020
SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF COPYCAT GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY
BACKGROUND:
The Azusa City Library has been awarded a CopyCat grant in the amount of $11,515 from the California State
Library to implement the “Fit Together” programs. This action accepts the grant award and approves a
corresponding budget amendment to incorporate the grant funds into the current fiscal year budget.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions:
1)Accept the grant award from the California State Library; and
2)Approve necessary budget amendments and adjust the current fiscal year budget accordingly.
ANALYSIS:
The Library is the recipient of the California State Library CopyCat grant. This grant provides funds to
customize and implement similar programs that other Libraries have successfully created. Fit Together will
provide a new approach to wellness education, including conversations on elder care, emotional wellness and
nutrition. This series of programs will also include exercise programs at partner sites and will build community
by promoting the program to all levels of physical ability to create a culture of positive health and wellness
experiences for the community.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended actions; this grant will support funding for the Fit
Together programs. Upon Council acceptance of the grant, Finance staff will amend the FY2019-20 budget
consistent with the grant award amount.
