HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - June 15, 1962 - CC (2)11 owliz-41; CITY HALL AZUSA, CALIFORNIA FRIDAY; JUNE 15, 1962 7¢00 P,M� The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned session for budget study at the above time and place,: Mayor Ortuno•call the meetinp;tio order, Present at Roll Calla Councilmen- Memmesheimer, Cooney Jackson, McLees, Ortuno Also Present° City Administrator Caswell, Superintendent or Light & Water Smith, Deputy City Clerk Torrey The first item considered in the budget study was the lighting of the Civic center buildings, Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Cooney and unanimously carried that the Superintendent of Public Works be authorized to have the lighting installed free of charge on a trial basis and that a price be botained on the project. Discussion was held on the improvement of First Street west of Virginia Avenue and the opening of Dalton Avenue through to Sierra Madre. Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Cooney and unanimously carried that the Public Works Department be authorized to proceed with plans and specifications on these projects, contingent upon assurance of receiving funds from the State in an amount comparable to the cost of the projects, Approval was requested by the Public Works Superintendent of funds for the purchase of a Street Sweeper and a Skip Loader, Moved by Councilman Jackson, seconded by Councilman Cooney and unanimously carried that $11,400,00 be budgeted for the purchase of a Skip Loader and the first payment on a Street Sweeper (one- half the full cost) with the 2nd and final payment to be made in the 1963-64 fiscal year, The Public Works Superintendent requested that $1,080,00 be budgeted for payment of $90:00 per month as rental for the use of his private vehicle; rather that purchase of a car for the use of the Department, Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Jackson and unanimously carried that the budget request be approved, Moved by Councilman Jackson; seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer and unanimously carried that on all budget requests for attendance at the L.C,C. Conference, a policy be set whereby reimbursement will be made, not to exceed $125,00 per person; rather than advancing expense money to the individual, Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Jackson and unanimously carried that Conferences remain in the budget for all Departments and theat unless specifically set forth in the budget, the•amount' allowed for attendance shall be set by Council prior to each individual conference, Discussion was held as to the purchase of an automobile for use of the Administrative offices, i.e. City Administrator, City Clerk; Accounting Director, etc, It was recommended by Council that one bid be received for all vehicles authorized for purchase by the various departments, and that the bid not be limited to a specific make of automobile, Call to Order Roll Call Budget k r� CITY HALL AZUSA, CALIFORNIA FRIDAY, JUNE 159 1962 Page 2 Discussion was held rela.ti_ve to the possible use of additional machines for accounting,--rn lieu of employing additional personnel, Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman McLees that an N.C.R. survey be made with the intent of possibly changing the City's accounting procedures whereby the present accounting equipment would be utilized to the utmost The motion was unanimously carried, Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer and unanimously carried that the meeting be adjourned;, Adjourn Time of Adjournment, 9,45 PaM, a D -j t t �-' xf ,r3'�_f }�iyM .��:M .. ^ .'.`�•ta��'?h:S;; •A '%sL .. • r.. •.* .; ' ,� �l .:ir '
