HomeMy WebLinkAboutI-6 Staff Report - Approval of NOC for CIP CS-01 Consumer Services Lobby RemodelUBCONSENT CALENDAR I-6 TO: HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE AZUSA UTILITY BOARD FROM: MANNY ROBLEDO, DIRECTOR OF UTILITIES DATE: JUNE 15, 2020 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT CS-01 AZUSA LIGHT & WATER CONSUMER SERVICES LOBBY REMODEL BACKGROUND: On May 28, 2019, the Utility Board approved a contract with RS Construction and Development Inc. for the safety and ADA compliance upgrades for the Azusa Light & Water Consumer Services Lobby. The project was successfully completed within the Utility Board approved contract purchase order amount. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Utility Board take the following action: 1)Accept the Azusa Light and Water Consumer Services Lobby Remodel Project, as outlined in IDS 16X057.00 Plans and Specifications; 2) Approve the Notice of Completion; 3) Authorize the Mayor to execute the document on behalf of the City; and 4)Authorize the City Clerk to submit the Notice of Completion for recordation to the Office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles County, within ten days of the Utility Board approval, as required by Section 3093 of the California Civil Code. ANALYSIS: Bids for project CS-01 were received on April 19, 2019. On May 28, 2019, the Utility Board approved a contract with RS Construction and Development Inc. of Upland, California to APPROVED UTILITY BOARD 6/15/2020 Notice of Completion for Azusa L&W Consumer Services Lobby Remodel June 15, 2020 Page 2 remodel the Azusa Light & Water Consumer Services Lobby with safety and ADA compliance upgrades. The Contract was executed with RS Construction and Development Inc. for a bid amount of $340,000. Staff issued the Notice to Proceed on July 2 9, 2019. Due to the long lead-time of materials (bullet proof glass) critical to the project, the work was extended for several months and successfully completed on June 8, 2020. The City of Azusa Public Works Department accepted the improvements for the Azusa Light & Water Consumer Services Lobby. The contract completion date for all work was June 8, 2020. The total final contract price is $374,000.00. The project was successfully completed on budget and within the approved contract purchased order amount of $374,000.00, which includes the contingency amount of 10%. FISCAL IMPACT: The Azusa Light and Water Consumer Services Lobby Remodel Project was assigned to the Consumer Service’s Capital Improvement Program Budget Account No. 31-80-711-903- 7120/71115A-7120, for an amount not to exceed $374,000.00, which included a 10% contingency and was successfully completed.
