Mayor Ortuno called the meeting to order and led"in the salute to the flag. Invocation was given by Rev. T.. A, Niecum of the Azusa- .Seventh ' Day Adventist Churoh. 101 7:30 P.M. Counc. A communication was received from the Planning Commission Jackson Entered regarding the Proposed Annexation No. 52, Azusa Valley Mtg. Sanitarium, with the recommendation that this area.be included within the City limits of the City of Azusa. Re:Annex. Moved by Councilman.McLees, seconded by Councilman -Cooney and (Tabled unanimously carried that this matter be tabled to the meeting of to 9/16/63) September 16, 1963. Foreman and unanimously carried that the request as recommended by the Eff.8/26 Superintendent of Light and Water be approved: A communication was received from the Superintendent of Light- Legal Act. and Water requesting permission to authorize the Mutual Credit Auth.vs. Bureau to take legal action against one account in'the One L&W amount of $115.63. Acct. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman. McLees and unanimously carried that permission be granted. A request was received from the Chief of Police for Detective R.Ouardado Ray Ouardado to attends. special course in scientific identi- Attend fication of questioned documents, at the Civic Center campus Course of the University of Southern California, from September 23, U.S.C. 1963, until January 21, 1964 with tuition fee of $72.00 to be advanced but reimbursed to the City if the course is not completed. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman lackson and unanimously carried that the City advance $72.00 or this course, under the conditions agreed to by Detective uardado. A Resolution was presented commending the members.of the Citrus ..Res. 4530 College Board of Trustees for their efforts toward the building Re: Ded. program, and commending the citizens of the community for their New Citrus support, on the occasion of the dedication of the new :CitrusCollege College Stadium, said Resolution to be incorporated' in the half- 'Stadium page advertisement in the Special Edition of the Azusa Herald. Councilman Memmesheimer offered the following Resolution entitled: CITY HALL AZUSA, CALIFORNIA TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 1963 'A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ON THE OCCASION OF THE DEDICATION OF THE NEW CITRUS COLLEGE STADIUM AND COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING.ALL THOSE PERSONS WHO ARE PARTY THERETO, The Resolution was read in full. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by..Councilman Cooney that the Resolution be adopted. Resolution passed. and adopted by the following vote of Council:. Following notification of an accident, involving a City -owned Vehicle, Mayor Ortuno appointed a Committee.. Holbert,regarding a 14J -foot Report Re: Holbert Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Cooney and strip on Angeleno Avenue, south of Fourth Street,.formerly Prpty. on owned by Mrs. R. Holbert and acquired by the City from State 9/16 by tax sale, requesting that all notices of any hearings before Council on this item be sent to his office. The City Administrator stated he would have a report on this matter by the meeting of September 16, 1963. Mr. William A. Baxley, 232 North Edenfield Avenue; appeared Re: C ofC before Council as a representative of the Azusa Junior Chamber Printing of Commerce and advised Council that the Junior Chamber has Book had 50,000 match folders printed, to be distributed during Matches their campaign to "sell Azusa"a Councilman Memmesheimer offered'the following Resolution Res.4531 entitled: Bills & Reqs. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA 'ALLOWING CERTAIN CLAIMS AND DEMANDS AND AUTHORIZING THE FUNDS OUT OF WHICH THE SAME ARE TO BE PAID.• Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman McLees that the Resolution be adopted.
