Council agreed that abate- ment must be completed within sixty (60) days from date of tine receipt of this notice by the legal owner. No written communication having been received and no one in t;:e audience wishing to be heard regarding this matter, it was moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Rubio and unanimously carried that the hearing be closed. Elizabeth Pimentel. Council examined photographs and Alameda Inspector's Affidavit of Publication of Notice (R.& E. 'Building of hearing and reported that the owner had been notified Pimentel) by cartified.mail that the building was unsafe. Owner and numbered Resolution No. 4639• notified the City Administrator that he will demolish the building during Clean-up Week. No written communication having been received and no one in the audience wishing to be heard regarding this matter, it was moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Jackson and unanimously carried that the hearing be closed. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING results THE RESULT OF A SPECIAL ELECTION PERTAINING TO THE ANNEXATION of Spec. OF SOUTHERN ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 52 TO THE CITY OF AZUSA Elec.re: HELD ON APRIL. 28, 1964, AND DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE CAN-. Inhab.Annex. VASS OF THE VOTES CAST AT SAID ELECTION. Dist.#52 The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, a special election was held and conducted within the following described territory designated as "Southerly Annexation District No. 52" on the 28th day of April, 1964, for the purpose of submitting to the voters within said territory a proposition for the annexation of said territory to the City of Azusa, and WHEREAS, notice cf said election was duly given and said election was duly held and conducted in all respects,as required by law, and 11 I 1 1 1 1 1 C:TY HALL AZUSA, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, MAY 4, 1964 Page 4 WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and legally given, voting precincts were properly established, election officers were appointed and election supplies furnished, and in all respects.said election was Yield and conducted and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof made, determined and declared in the time, form and manner as required by the Elections Code and the Government Code of the State of California providing for and regulating such elections, and WHEREAS, the City Council of said City met at the Council Chamber thereof on Monday, May 4, 1964, to canvass the returns of said election; and whereas the said City Council finds, as a.result of said canvass, that the number of votes cast, and other.matters'required by law, to be as hereinafter stated; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, DECLARED as follows: AND That said special election was held and conducted on April 28, 1964, as aforesaid, and that the votes cast thereat were duly and regularly canvassed in the time, man- ner and form provided by law. That the total number of votes bast at said special election was 19. Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Jackson 'and unanimously carried that further reading be waived. The hour of 7:30 P.M. being the time set for a public hearing on a recommended zone change from C=2 to R -3a (2000) on property between Azusa and Donna Beth Avenues and from Gladstone Street approximately 935 feet southerly with -the exception of two corner parcels, petitioned by Volk -McLain Communities, Inc., the hearing was declared opened by the Mayor. The Deputy City Clerk presented the Affidavit of Proof of Publication of Notice of Public Hearing, together with an analysis and recommendation for said zone change by the Planning Commission, and further stated that no written communications were received. Kenneth Volk, 2208 West Beverly Blvd.,.Los Angeles 57, appeared before Council explaining the type of units pro- posed for construction and stating that such a development offers good use of the property. John H. Ott,.5740 North Oak Avenue, Temple City, owner of the property, appeared before Council, stating that at the time of annexation the zone ,C-2 permitted development of 'apartment construction; however, this has since been.changed by the City, and the owners at this time are very much in favor of the proposed zone change .to R -3a. 1st rdg. Azusa Avenue and San Gabriel Canyon Road, from Sierra Madre to C-2 & Avenue northerly to the north line of the "Crystal Canyon R-la(Annex. Estates", Tract 20971, designated as Northerly Annexation #60) District No. 60, the hearing was declared opened by the Mayor. There being no written communications received and no one else in the audience wishing to speak on this matter, it was Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio and unanimously carried that this hearing be closed. Chg. on property comprising two portions of City -owned former former Heli - ,r. Heliport site at the northwest corner of 5th Street and port site M Virginia Avenue, now leased to Gilfillan Corporation, as 5th & initiated by the Planning Commission, the hearing was de- clared opened by the Mayor. An analysis and recommendation was submitted by the Planning Commission. A communication was received from Mrs. Miriam S. Blatchley, 17640 East Gladstone Street, requesting zoning to R -3a upon annexation of the two, parcels of property owned by her and located on East Gladstone Street. Travis Heatley, 4128 North Lyman, Covina, appeared before Council and spoke in favor of the recommended zone change to R -3a. Moved by Councilman Jackson, seconded by Councilman Rubio that the recommendation of the Planning Commission be denied and the property remain as an R-1 zone.
