from now until January 1, 1966, and establishing the
job specifications after January 1, 1966; .that require-
ments of college units'.be eliminated for entrance to
the positions of Fireman in the Fire Department and
for Patrolman in the Police Department; that positions
of Engineer.and Captain in the Fire Department and ,of
Sergeant and Lieutenant in Police Department establish••
college unit requirements, in accordance with-recommen-
dations
ith recommendations of the Gold -Thompson report, to become•effective
on January 1, 1966; that the proposed changes be sub-
mitted to the Personnel Board for their consideration

taken by Council on the above item.

Rupert, regarding the barricade on Calera Street. The
City Engineer. -presented a communication pertaining.to
the dedication of the east half of Calera Street by
the Los Angeles County Road Department, and submitted'a
recommendation for the opening of the street.
