PEDROZA JR., SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS VIA: HENRY GARCIA, CITY ADMINISTRATOR DATE: JUNE 2, 1997 SUBJECT: PROJECT NO. 97-04,THREE YEAR LANDSCAPE AND IRRIGATION MAINTENANCE CONTRACT BACKGROUND: Landscape and irrigation maintenance has been provided by contractual services since 1985. The current annual contract cost is $63,000.00 FINDINGS: Beautification projects over the past three years has expanded our City garden. Also, as a result of Prop.218, it is necessary to separate and identify each cost per fund or item. The specifications have been revised to meet these requirements. SCOPE OF WORK: The landscape and irrigation maintenance specifications include five days per week service; hardscape cleaning,watering, mowing, fertilizing,pruning and tree trimming. Box 1395 , Azusa, CA 91702-1395 (818) 334-5125 FUNDING: Appropriations for landscape and irrigation maintenance have been submitted within the 1997/98 fiscal year budget. The landscape and lighting act assessment of 1972, provides funding for public right-of-ways and the general fund supports facilities. The funding is within the Public Works Division(Streets) line item 101-400-2312-6805, maintenance and land improvements. CONCLUSION: Staff is requesting continuation of contractual services for landscape and irrigation maintenance. Staff's estimate for the 1997/98 fiscal year is approximately $80,000.00 Upon approval, Staff will implement the formal bidding procedure in accordance with Azusa Municipal Code 2-537 and 2-545. RECOMMENDATION: Staff is requesting Council approval of the specifications for Project No. 97-04, Three Year Landscape and Irrigation Maintenance Contract and authorize the office of the City Clerk to commence with advertising and the bidding procedures in accordance with Azusa Municipal code 2-537 and 2-545.
