SUBJECT: CHANGE ORDER#21 FOR POLICE FACILITY ADDITION AND
ALTERATION PROJECT
Background
The functionality of the north building was dictated by existing load bearing walls and grout filled
masonry safes. The furniture layout and room functions have had to undergo some changes as a
result of existing conditions and advancements in technology.Also,the lighting provided for in the
trellis area in front of the building and at the lobby entrance was insufficient.These fixtures had been
chosen because they were inexpensive and a budget was not identified. The wheelchair lift required
between the central and south building also required minor modification to comply with ADA
standards and maintain a professional appearance.
Findings
In order to address these issues,furniture consultants were utilized to improve functionality and our
Information Systems Administrator revealed new electrical requirements for new computer
equipment. Therefore, electrical changes were necessary to meet these needs. Also, more
appropriate fixtures were ordered for the front trellis colonnade area and modifications were made
to accommodate the wheelchair lift, keeping the equipment housing out of the corridor.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that Council approve Change Order#21 in the amount of$9,816 authorizing the
listed electrical changes and modifications,pending the approval of LaSalle National Bank.
