AGENDA ITEM
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: PETER MACKAY, TRANSPORTATION MANAGER
VIA: RICK COLE, CITY MANAGER
DATE: MARCH 13, 2001
SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MOBILE SOURCE
AIR POLLUTION REDUCTION COMMITTEE (MSRC) SUBVENTION FUND MATCH
PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt a resolution to allow participation in the
Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Committee (MSRC) Subvention Fund Match Program.
BACKGROUND:
Applications for grant funds are being accepted to match the amount of AB 2766 Subvention
Funds applied toward the purchase of qualifying heavy duty vehicles on a "dollar for dollar"
basis up to a maximum MSRC contribution of $20,000 per vehicle. The estimated purchase
price of such a vehicle is approximately $70,000. If our application is accepted, $50,000 of
the purchase price will be paid from the City's AB2766 funds and $20,000 from grant funds.
Upon receipt of the funds, staff will return to Council to recognize the new revenue and to
recommend the purchase of a specific vehicle.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund as a result of this item. Approval of the grant
application would provide the City with an additional $20,000 for vehicle purchases.
