ZUS ..:• CONSENT ITEM TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: VICTORIA CROSS, DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES VIA: RICK COLE, CITY MANAGER Aaa DATE: MARCH 4, 2002 SUBJECT: AMEND THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT BUDGET RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council approve an increase of $2,000 to amend the Human Resources Department budget. BACKGROUND Training on the Bi-Tech system was conducted for staff from the Finance Department and Human Resources Department. Intensive training was held over a two day period on October 16 and 17, 2001. The Bi-Tech system training proved to be extremely beneficial and enhanced staff's utilization of the Bi-Tech system. Training was estimated at$5,000, which included a"needs assessment", to determine the best course of training and topics to be specifically covered, and actual training in the system. However, actual training costs exceeded the initial estimate by$2,000 for a total training cost of $7,000. The excess amount was attributed to extended training time and travel expense of the trainer from northern California. FISCAL IMPACT This action transfers $2,000 from the General Fund balance into the Human Resources Department operating budget for the 2001-02 fiscal year. da/Vej, //4?_. &d4
