BACKGROUND Now that GIS technology has developed to a point where it is cost effective, more powerful and more widely available, the City can benefit from deployment of this tool to the end users, and the public, via a simple browser. ARCIMS provides the foundation for disseminating high-end geographic information systems (GIS) and mapping services via the Internet. This software enables users to integrate local data sources with Internet data sources for display, query, and analysis in an easy-to-use Web browser. Also, integrate geographic data from multiple sources for localized query and analysis. ARCIMS will simultaneously accesses Web data, local shapefiles, ArcSDE layers, and images for viewing with local data. This puts decision making tools at the desktop, allows more efficient access to valuable GIS information, and gives any desktop in the City network access to this information via a browser. Purchasing these tools in this bundle allows cost savings, and includes additional support and installation services.
