HomeMy WebLinkAboutH- 6 Purchase of Web Server and Replacement E-Mail Server from Compaq yr: 1.1 • a,tioilt r--- AZUSA, CONSENT CALENDAR TO: THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ANN GRAF GAYNOR, INFORMATION SERVICES MANAGER VIA: RICK COLE, CITY MANAGERr,,,/ DATE: MAY 6, 2002 SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF WEB SERVER AND REPLACEMENT E-MAIL SERVER FROM COMPAQ VIA COMPUTER DISCOUNT WAREHOUSE USING THE CALIFORNIA MUNICIPAL AWARDS SCHEDULE (CMAS) IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $8,973 RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council approve the purchase of server hardware from COMPAQ via Computer Discount Warehouse on the state CMAS contract per attached configuration; per municipal code 2-523 (b) hardware purchase and 2-523 (d), Competitive bidding already completed; Total hardware purchase amount including tax $8,973.00. BACKGROUND Each year the City's Information Services staff develops plans for the orderly rotation of computer hardware. Since 1996 the staff has been rotating out and retiring antiquated hardware. This effort has succeeded in standardizing most of the hardware throughout all departments. Part of the Information Technology Master Plan, is to address server replacement through the CIP. Servers are replaced in order to keep performance and reliability to a minimum standard. The existing e-mail server was purchased in 1999, the new server will allow server redundancy and little to no downtime once implemented. The WEB server is part of the project to bring web hosting in-house. 101/6 1 tel FISCAL IMPACT This project is budgeted for in the 2001-2002 CIP. SECTION 2: In support of this Preferred Alternative, the City Council also supports the following: 1 . The extension of the Metro Gold Line light rail transit from its present terminus in eastern Pasadena to the City of Claremont; 2. Preparation of an EIR/S and conducting preliminary engineering on the Locally Preferred Alternative; 3. Addressing all issues and concerns raised through public participation in the EIR/S and preliminary engineering studies; 4. Developing intermodal stations in each of the ten cities along the extension to be served by the Metro Gold Line; and 5. Expanding bus services and bicycle, pedestrian and auto access facilities at each of the intermodal stations. - >', APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 6th day of May, 2002.
