SUBJECT: SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE MIGRATION FOR LIBRARY CIRCULATION
SYSTEM
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that City Council: 1) approve the cost for software migration;
approve cost for licensing of additional modules; approve related training costs; per
attached details 2) approve the server purchase; per attached. Per municipal code 2-
523 (c) No competitive market. Total purchase price not to exceed $ 100,000.
BACKGROUND
The existing Library circulation system has been in operation since 1993, the hardware
is now antiquated and the software vendor has merged with SIRSI corporation.
The City of Azusa is an INLEX DRA software customer. In August 2001 SIRSI
Corporation merged with Data Research Associates (DRA), SIRSI now includes the
Inlex, Classic, MultiLlS, Taos, and Unicorn integrated library systems. As an INLEX
DRA customer, SIRSI will be fully crediting us licensing for already purchased software
modules.
This project will include: migration of hardware from the existing Hewlett Packard mini
computer over to a server environment; transfer the existing software licensing onto
the new server with SIRSI software licensing; conversion of data; installation of two
new modules Acquisition and Fund and Patron Authentication; training and mi•ration
support. Completion is anticipated by the end of the calendar year.
