HomeMy WebLinkAboutH- 5 Designation of Applicants Agent Resolution 1r14Y ZUSA~ CONSENT CALENDAR TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: KING DAVIS, CHIEF OF POLICE VIA: OLGA BRUNO, EMERGENCY SERVICES COORDINATOR DATE: OCTOBER 16, 2002 SUBJECT: DESIGNATION OF APPLICANT'S AGENT RESOLUTION RECOMMENDATION It is recommended City Council adopt a resolution approving the Designation of Applicant's Agent Resolution. This will allow designated applicants to pursue recovery costs from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for City expenses incurred as a result of the Williams Fire. BACKGROUND The City of Azusa was recently impacted by the Williams Fire of 2002. A Proclamation of Existence of a Local Emergency by the Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors with Request for a State Declaration was filed on September 25, 2002, in the County of Los Angeles. As a result, the City of Azusa is eligible to apply and file with the Governor's Office of Emergency Services for the purpose of obtaining certain federal financial assistance under P.L. 93-288 as amended by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act of 1988, and/or financial assistance under th Natural Disaster Assistance Act. ,/" �� FISCAL IMPACT This action will allow designated applicants to pursue recovery costs from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for expenses incurred as a result of this fire. RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 96-C114 AUTHORIZING CERTAIN PERSONS TO SIGN CERTAIN APPLICATION AND DOCUMENTS FOR THE CITY UNDER THE FEDERAL CIVIL DEFENSE ACT. BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Azusa that the following named individuals are hereby authorized to execute for, and on behalf of, the City of Azusa, a public entity established under the laws of the State of California, this application and to file it in the Office of Emergency Services for the purpose of obtaining certain federal financial assistance under P.L. 93-288 as amended by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act of 1988, and/or state financial assistance under the Natural Disaster Assistance Act. Emergency Services Coordinator Police Captain City Manager Assistant City Manager THAT the City of Azusa, a public entity established under the laws of the State of California, hereby authorizes its agent(s) to provide to the State Office of Emergency Services for all matters pertaining to such state disaster assistance the assurances and agreements required.
