F" ilr AZUSA CONSENT CALENDAR TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: KING DAVIS, CHIEF OF POLICE VIA: RICK COLE, CITY MANAGER P DATE: FEBRUARY 18, 2003 SUBJECT: AMENDMENT AND INCREASE OF $10,000.00 TO THE BLANKET PURCHASE ORDER FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT RADIO MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR WITH COMMUNICATIONS CENTER, 134 S. VALENCIA AVE., GLENDORA, CA. FOR A NEW TOTAL OF $34,999.00. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended City Council approve an increase of $10,000.00 in blanket purchase order No. 310690 with Communications Center. BACKGROUND Purchase order No. 310690 is issued to the Police Department for radio maintenance and repairs. The current blanket purchase order amount will be exceeded due to unanticipated higher repair costs to repair and maintain the existing police emergency radio system. The infrastructure of Azusa's police radio system has been problematic for many years. Prior requests brought before City Council have been explicitly to add the necessary radio frequencies, equipment, and technology to improve police radio reception and transmission for both voice and data. This recommendation will provide for adequate funds to maintain the revamped system. FISCAL IMPACT There are adequate funds available in account #10-20-310-000-6835 to cover these additional costs and it will not result in an increase in the 2003 Operating Budget.
